Daequan Cook would be a wasted pick, we don't need a freshman who will ride
the pines behind Andre Ig, where the best case scenario is he gets 12
minutes a night. Jason Smith was the player the Sixers needed to take here,
he went the pick before (at 20) to Miami. Now the ESPN crew is reporting
that there is a trade where the teams swap Smith and Cook, with Miami
getting some cash in the process. I certainly hope so!! if it works out
that way, fine. If not, this draft is really shaping up as a disaster.
Smith will be good, a seven footer who can play PF.

Now at No. 30, the Sixers should aim for a true center, and probably the
best on the board would be Marcus Gasol of Spain, Pau's younger brother.
Keep your fingers crossed! McRoberts would be Ok if Gasol is gone, but
better to get the guy who can play the 5 spot now. Gasol is 7-0, 265, a
real horse.

Is it just me, or does Stephen Smith make the other three guys on ESPN sound
like Einsteins? I think Stephen A. Smith is a loud-mouthed, stuffed-shirt
buffoon.

Ack! The Sixers muck it up again. I had Cook as my third best choice
behind Belinelli and Fernandez for the 21 pick. Belinelli was gone
and I think that they really should have taken Fernandez whose
experience could have conceivably allowed him to start at the 2, much
like with Garbajosa in Toronto. They took Cook and that seemed ok
because they need another perimeter threat. But then, Smith? Most of
the comparisons I've heard of him were to Troy Murphy. That's not
really good as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, size is one thing.
Worthless, even counterproductive size is another.
