A fifth Indiana Pacers player is under scrutiny by authorities in Auburn
Hills, Mich., as police Friday wrapped up the investigation into the Nov. 19
brawl involving Detroit Pistons fans.
Police would not say who that player is, or confirm any of the names of
players who might face criminal charges, said Lt. James Manning, a
spokesman. But he referenced videotape that shows Pacers guard Fred Jones,
who was seen in the crowd, involved in a tussle with fans along with
teammates Ron Artest and Stephen Jackson.
The players investigated by police aren't necessarily the same players who
were suspended by the NBA.
"The NBA sanctions versus criminal charges are two separate jurisdictions,"
Manning said. "There are five players who potentially could be charged.
That's 'potentially.' "
