Report: Artest wants to stay in Sacramento
Bee News Services

Last Updated 9:40 am PDT Tuesday, July 10, 2007

Ron Artest wants to stay in Sacramento and finish his playing career
in the NBA as a member of the Kings, the forward told the New York
Post.

A report on ESPN.com quoted the newspaper article extensively,
providing statements by Artest that contradicted comments the player's
agent made last week indicating that Artest, a Queens, N.Y., native,
wanted to go to New York.

"I really want to finish my career in Sacramento because of my
relationship with some of the players," Artest told the Post. "I want
to finish with Sacramento. I feel attached to Sacramento. I want to be
their franchise player."

Artest said he was told by Geoff Petrie, the Kings basketball
president, that he would not be traded, and Artest told Petrie he
probably would not opt out of his contract after next season, the Post
reported.

""Ron is going to be a King," Petrie said Monday, denying he has had
any conversations with the Knicks' front office. "People are having
conversations with themselves."

Ah heck, Geoff why don't I call the moving trucks for you.

Artest, I got news for you. If you become the franchise player then it
wont be the Sacramento Kings for much longer. The real question is
where do you really want to live?

If Ron wants to be a King for life, then he must be a friend of Bibby. If
they really worked with each other and realized how they can help each other
with all the new and great talent they have around them they CAN get to the
finals, but not until then. I believe Reggie Theus can help make that happen
between them. I do believe that neither one of these two, Artest or Bibby
will be going anywhere but starting again in Sac. If Ron really is truthful
with what he said, then the ball is in his court. Otherwise get rid of him
but keep Bibby.
