Post subject: What's with US v Australia ?
Archived from groups: alt>sports>basketball>nba>la-lakers (more info?)

If not for the +12 in Q2, USA would have a tie at best.
They pretty much played to a standstill in H2.

Australia..................... 19 10 26 21 76
USA Senior National Team...... 22 22 21 22 87

The Aussies also played Argentina to a 4 point game. Not sure how much of
that is flat favorites and how much is them being better than is expected.
Probably some of both, but even if they are better than, say, Germany and
Croatia or something it's still hard to see them in the medal round.

They are a lot better than Germany. Germany has a huge dropoff in
talent behind Nowitzki and Kaman. Australia is a much more evenly
talented team. Remember, Australia was even without Bogut against Team
USA.
