Interesting read..

So Dampier should toughen up? (which I agree) but not Dirk?

Read it and tell me your thoughts..

If Dirk would have "retaliated" most likely the end result would have
been a ejection then a review of the incident from the league office.
Now we know the league likes to stick it to Cuban when possible so
most likely Dirk would have been sitting tonight serving a one game
suspension. The Mavs are totally hopeless without Dirk. I agree
someone on the team needs to step forward but this team has never
shown much heart and I think the coach has been exposed as well.

Dirk didn't have to retaliate with a punch, as has been pointed our time
and time and time again, yet apparently some can't read. Dirk certainly
could have told West to get his "hands off my friggin' face or it's on."
Likewise, he certainly is allowed to push away West's hand. You don't
let someone intimidate you like that. This isn't about who's tougher in
a fight. It's about dignity and self-worth working within a team
concept. It's not only a sign of weakness in how Dirk reacted but it's
a sign that he'll let himself and his teammates be pushed around: this
is hardly in the tradition of great NBA superstars.

I was shocked and stunned when the Mavs threw all that money in
Dampier. He is an awful center. He's slow, he rebounds poorly, he
has limited offensive capabilities -
he's flat footed, and he plays uninspired ball, IMHO. When they
tossed out Diop in the Kidd trade - I thought they'd miss the
playoffs. Maybe they should have, and gotten in the lottery and tried
to get Roy Hibbert.

Did I say something about throwing a punch? How do we know that Dirk
did not make a comment to West? All I am saying is that if Dirk makes
a physical retaliation there is a very good chance it escalates and
both players are kicked out and suspended.
