Seems like a lot of blazers have been having career highs lately, Blake was
one point off his which was against the Blazers last year.
Blazers have a few zone busters... Steve was 48 -106 .453 on 3s before his
5-6 tonight.
Previous 10 games 20- 35 .571 ... should be in the scouting report...
=)
Plus Martell 20 50 .400 last 10 and the white unit has Jones... 38 71 .535
More to the point they seemed to have forgot Davuis and Jackson's
coolaid...Gotta love Nellie putting in the D-League guy that had never even
practiced wityh the team...-- Laurel T"The only difference between me

day"A coach after a blow out loss >> Stay informed about: BEAT DOWN |

Outlaw didn't see as much time as he should is what I was gtting
at..Last time up there he killed us, this time, pretty much garbage
time....Very impressive team...Scary impressive. They may knock off
some elites in the playoffs....Interesting that there are basically
four teams for two spots right now, Portland, GS, Utah, Houston.....
Houston doesn't scare me, what about you? The other three are all
good teams even though Utah isn't playing well right now, and frankly
neither is GS.....It's a long season....
Oh and thanks for blowing smoke about all the injured players that did
play and ended up killing us ;) >> Stay informed about: BEAT DOWN |

Last time they did not have LMA. Frye started that game because the white
unit
is more effective with Travis as the anchor.

Trout played 22 minutes, 8 1.2 minutes in the first half. Nate brought in
Frye first because he was trying to stay big against Nellie's small ball and
likely because Martell was having a great firsat quarter.
When Trout went in in the 3rd it was a 12 point lead and he played the rest
of the game.

Never know if TMac gets healthy and Bonzi plays his way into shape.
You are forgeting Portland is competing with Denver as much for 4th as they
are with the rest for 7th or 8th.

Exactly. Turnarounds both ways are common. Injuries happen...

JoeL and his bad back was impressive...
A couple of quotes:
http://www.columbian.com/sports/localNews/2008/01/01102008_Blazers-report.cfm
"I told him he's guarding Baron Davis ," McMillan said of the Golden State
starer whom he ranks among the NBA's top three guards. "Either you're going
to say it's a game-time decision, or you're going to say you're ready. He
said he was ready."
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2008/01/10/SPTVUC1AV.DTL
It was Al Harrington who first suggested that this year's Blazers were a lot
like last year's Warriors.
"Nobody's expecting anything from them," Harrington explained. "And the next
thing you know, you start creeping up on people. And after awhile, you start
getting momentum, start getting confident as a team. And next thing you
know, you're a good team."
As for those Golden State comparisons?
"I would say the difference is this: They've done it. We're trying to do
it," Blazers general manager Kevin Pritchard said.
"I'd love to get where the Warriors are, where they made the playoffs and
knocked off the No. 1 team," Roy said. "I'd love to be like that - the baby
Warriors." >> Stay informed about: BEAT DOWN |

I like the quotes. Webster was killing in the first half, though too
many idiots were leaving him open....I think the comparisons go even
deeper. These are two of the youngest teams in the league. When
Croshere is gone and Hudson is waived or retires, they are the
youngest two teams in the league. They are both very deep and very
athletic. They both have 21 year old big men and a big strong
dominant guard. Difference is Roy is 5 years younger than Baron.
This is going to be a battle for the next several years if both teams
retain their players.
Also your point is well taken about battling Denver. Before the season
started I really wasn't that impressed with Denver. I think Portland
is a much much better team than Denver at this point (though the big
eastern roadie will answer all the questions anyone has about the
Blazers).... Denver has every tool that you need (dominant defensive
center, two great scorers, three point specialists, veteran presence,
couple of defensive stoppers, some great role players with energy) yet
they aren't that great record wise. Plus at the end of the day, the
comraderie seems much better in Portland, GS, Dallas, SA, Utah and Phx
than it does in Denver, LA or Houston..
Finally, Laurel, you were dead on about the Lakers.....

Well they got their act together faster and beter than anyone (including me)
expected. But LA seems to thrive on soap operas that would melt down most
teams...
