For the first 5 minutes of the game the teams traded baskets. Sammy
Salter opening the scoring with a triple from the corner. Mike Martin
added 6 for the Heat starting with a big dunk from Dean Williams'
steal and assist. James Warwick matched that with 6 of his own for the
Leopards. Gareth Laws' 3 pointer mid way through the quarter, pushed
the Leopards 15-12 in front and sparked a 5 man sub from Heat Coach
Paul James. The move brought of the new signings on to court who
started to push the ball around on offense and coupled with some good
defensive work, put together a 17-2 run over the last 3 and a half
minutes with Rookie John Nottley adding 7 points.

The same 5 started the second quarter and carrying on the same passing
and defensive effort to carve out a 23-10 run. The highlight being 3 3
pointers from James Jones on his way to 11 points in the run. Lukas
Volskins and Gareth Laws both bagging 5 each in reply. Nerijus
Karlikanovas also helped himself to a triple and bagged another 2
later in the quarter. James Jones also nailed another and went to nail
5 from 7 on the night, and 9 from 11 from 2 point range and 5 steals.
The Heat added a further 16 points on the back of Jones and
Karlikanovas, to the Leopards 8.

The second half saw a five of Dux, Gilbert, Dorsey, Martin, and
Carlton Aaron who got his game going with a host of rebounds and 16
points in the quarter. 4 of those coming off a couple of classy over
the head assists from Tony Dorsey who also showed the Heat fans some
of what they can expect from him. Danny Gilbert added 7 points a block
and a couple of assists on his way to 11 for the night. Gareth Laws
and James Warwick add 15 points between them in reply for the
Leopards, with Sammy Salter adding a triple late in the quarter.

The 4th quarter saw the Heat press their advantage further, outscoring
the Leopards 29-9. John Nottley again showing his speed up and down
the court, adding a couple of blocks to his 5 points in the quarter.
James Jones also doing a good job at the point as well as adding 9
points in the quarter. 4 points from Lukas Volskins was the main reply
from the Leopards as they struggled to keep pace with the Heat
offense. Nerijus Karlikanovas also weighed in a coupple of steals and
assists and another 6 points on
is way to 19 points before Chi Lewis-Parry slammed home from Jon May's
assist to close out the game at 135-70 to the Heat.
