Do the Lakers have any big man who can consistently defend in the post
without help? That appears to be one more asset they lost with that
fellow that went to Golden State.

I'm a big PJ fan but do you think our big men would be playing this
poorly with Pop as coach?...the whole team needs to be motivated to
dive for those loose balls...instead of looking at the cheerleaders
tits...

Ronny was hardly a good defender in the post, prone to foul trouble and
undersized. I liked Ronny but I think Powell is giving them at least what
Ronny did.

Bynum is a *very good* post defender. He's in a terrible funk right now but
before it the stats bore out how well he was doing stopping his man, holding
his average positional counterpart to something like a 12 PER. That is
*great*.

It's a also a different issue from being a good all around defender as a
center... because you're not just responsible for your man, you're
responsible to stop penetrators and grab as many rebounds as possible. This
is where his reviews are more mixed. He was doing a better job here earlier
in the season.

His fouls were mostly help fouls. You could generally leave him alone
on most power forwards, including Duncan.

Need to dump Bynum before it's too late - Right now, Bynum has SOME trade value. But if he goes through another year of minimal improvement, his trade value is going to PLUMMET. We won't be able to get rid of him after next season. Then again, we did scammed with the Krummy trade so maybe it's..

Karl conspiracy theory - Hey, Maybe the Lakers signed Coby Karl to get brownie points with his dad, so they can hoodwink Denver into trading their minds about trading Marcus Camby to the Lakers. Okay, I don't believe it either, but it makes a nice conspiracy theory.
