so...looking ahead past either the playoffs or the lottery...I'm
seeing too many players for a healthy rotation.

I don't think any of there recent trade rumors were because KP was
'shopping'. And I really don't think he'd be trading Outlaw in any
event.

But next season, Oden and probably fernandez will join the team.
There's going to be a minutes squeeze then. I think it will manifest
at the SF position.

Oden & Joel will take most of the C minutes meaning LMA will take most
of the minutes at PF. That means Outlaw will take some minutes at SF,
squeezing Jones and Webster. I suppose wenster could play some at SG,
but whaddoyouknow...there's Roy, Jack, and fernandez. And I didn't
even mention Frye. Or the first round pick.

Clearing roster spots for fernandez and the pick shouldn't be
hard...byebye green and mcroberts.

And I think Jack might be traded. But that doesn't solve the
frontcourt problem and I think portland may have to choose between
Jones and webster. Jones can opt-out so maybe he'll force the issue.

But that cap-space in 2009 plan means Webster could be an issue. If
his contract isn't extended this summer and he isn't traded before the
feb 2009 deadline, his cap-hold will be 11.3 million. Dead cap-space
option then.

I'm actually thinking that KP may be real active on draft day again.
If portland has the 13th pick, I wouldn't be surprised to see KP make
a big trade to ship out 2 players for 1, or 3 for 2, AND try and move
up in the draft order.

and yes....I'm thinking the blazers making the playoffs is a
longshot....that's why the 13th pick hypothetically.

The very fact that this is even a concern makes me giddy. A couple years
ago our biggest worry was whether we'd ever win more than 20 games a season
for the foreseeable future, now you want us to worry we have too many good
players? See there, I'm giggling again. : )

Go Blazers !

I vote for PGs looking for spots to play too, perhaps even more than SFs.

Eventually if Rudy is as advertized the hoped for backcourt will be Roy and
Rudy to go with the Oden
and LMA front line for the starters. That leaves 4 PGs on the bench from
what is currently signed.
I think Rudy will likely play off the bench next year though.
Sergio and Rudy are used to playing together and I think Nate will pair them
together at least at first.
If so... Gives them a second unit of Sergio and Rudy backcourt, Jones,
Travis Outlaw and
Przybilla or Frye to be sorted for running or a half court game. That leaves
Blake and JJ who can play either guard spot but I think at least one PG is
going to have to go.

Yeah, they are both signed but have team options.
They can also buy-out Rafe or waive him since we assume they are not trading
him but using the ending contract.

If Travis continues to develop his 3 pointer then Webster may be redundant,
Especially if they keep Jones.

Or trade the draft pick and players for some experienced player?

Even Sac is moving up, some good teams are going to be on the outside and of
the current top ten it might well include Portland. Have to see if their
offense returns... Better start tonight, might be the most important game
the remainder of the season.
