Wouldn't it have been better to just keep Koponen or some other
foreign player to be developed overseas? What a waste given that the
Sixers were apparently committed to their other guards and Byars
probably didn't have a chance in the first place. And yes, that does
mean that Kevin Ollie remains on the team.

On a related note of further draft laments, Glen Davis (still
available at #30 at the time) put up another impressive line for
Boston:
21 pts, 6-10fg, 9-9 ft, 6 reb, 3 blk in 33 min.

It seemed like the guy was hurt all the time, which meant he could not do
anything overseas, either. I hope you are wrong that Ollie now has a spot.
There are so many reasons to like Kevin Ollie, I will bet he's going to be
a fine coach some day, but he has lost a step (or two) off his peak, and he
never could shoot. I wouldn't mind so much carrying him on the inactive
roster, but what would be the point of dressing him for games? Miller will
play 36 minutes a night at point, and Williams will take the rest. Carney
and Green are going to divvy up most of the two guard minutes (groan) and
Andre Ig may get some time in the back court too. Can't see that Ollie is
needed at all.

Let's see . . .

1. Dalembert
2. Booth
3. Hill
4. Smith
5. Evans
6. Young
7. Iguodala
8. Korver
9. Carney
10. Green
11. Miller
12. Williams

Well, there is my 12, anyway! No room for Kevin Ollie. Heck, I would keep
Randolph or Amundson before him.

Yeah, I was counting the 3 inactive spots. Which I guess is fine for
lack of another PG around. I certainly don't want to see Green
getting minutes there if Miller or Williams gets hurt. On a different
note, given how few minutes Young has been getting in the last few
preseason games, I'm starting to wonder if he'll actually end up on
the inactive list for stretches. Where I thought he'd at least be
playing for 10 minutes or so regularly, it looks like Carney is
getting the nod for heavy minutes.

Sixers forgive France - The Sixers have one-upped the State Department, forgiving the charter member of the Axis of Weasels, by giving employment (however short-lived) now to the famous Paccelis Morlende, Point Guard from, er, Dijon, and I'm not talking about the mustard. ----...

Alonzo Mourning - Even with his kidney condition, I'd take a chance and sign him. Even if he has to be restricted to 24 - 30 minutes a night, fine, grab him. We can fill the rest of the center minutes with Dalembert and Coleman (or if the Sixers are very lucky,..
