Post subject: Byears incident ignored by Sparks radio broadcast
Archived from groups: rec>sport>basketball>women (more info?)

I wasn't expect a blow by blow account, but there was not a word, not a trace
of the Latasha Byears controversy. I was expecting at least a terse statement
ready by the announcers at the beginning, but no go. Val Ackerman was
interviewed at halftime (what was she doing in Minnesota anyways?) and she was
hit with lowball questions and again, nothing about Byears.

As a longtime Sparks fans, I find it incumbent upon the organization to respect
their fans enough to at least acknowledge the existence of a problem which has
been well publicized in the past week. To add injury to insult, lead announcer
Larry Burnett announced that Michael Cooper was the happiest man in the WNBA
because he had Leslie and Milton back in the lineup. Nevermind that Cooper
actively courted the troubled Byears for years before actually signing her onto
the team. He's happy because he has Lisa and Delisha back. So much for the
alleged victim, right?

Rockers at Sparks: July 7, 2003 - It was too bad The Rockers lost this game. Rarely have I seen a team come in and play as hard as they did against the Sparks. In 2001, for example, teams would show up for games against the Sparks in Los Angeles already beaten mentally and just go..

Observations on the 7/5/03 Storm vs. Sparks game in L.A. - If people thought jersey grabbing in the WNBA would end with Sue Wicks' retirement, be advised that new players have emerged to take jersey grabbing to even higher levels. Liberty to Radio City, thanks to GOP? - I saw in the paper today that in 2004, the Liberty will be playing part of its home schedule at Radio City Music Hall because Madison Square Garden will need time to be converted into the site of the Republican national convention. (Radio City, like the....
