More news from Colorado State country. Raysha Ritter, a 6-foot-1 post
player from Grand Junction High School, recently verbally committed to
CSU.
Although listed as a post player curently, Raysha has the ball-handling
skills and shooting range to play well outside the paint. She will
probably go to power forward after H.S. I watched her play in the state
tournament last year and if memory serves me correctly, she was more
than adequate from 3-point range. She was certainly the team's go-to
player when sbe was on the floor.
Some of you may be familiar with Miss Ritter. She played for Carl
Mattei's Mile High Magic (Colorado) club team, which played in
tournaments in Oregon, Memphis, Tenn., Atlanta and Washington, D.C
last summer. She is the fifth current player on that team to commit to
a Division I school.
As per my comments a week or so ago, I was impressed with the other
schools mentioned in connection with Raysha; they are caertainly not
slouches. She is reported to have chosen CSU over Texas Tech, Penn St.,
and Illinois.
Miss Ritter joins Lindsay Laur, a 6-foot forward from Roseville, Minn.,
and Juanise Cornell, a 5-11 forward from Azusa, Calif., who also have
said they would play for CSU. Freshman CSU coach. Jen Warden, seems to
be validating her selection as the replacment for previous coach, Chris
Denker.
Here's hoping that Raysha has a healthy senior season and lives up to
her potential at CSU.
