Deja Vu all over again. This game looked too much like Game 1 in
Boston. Chauncey ineffective, Tayshaun and McDyess nowhere to be
found. The whole team was MIA in the first half.

Second half, Pistons outscored Boston 48-44 and the Piston bench for
the whole game outscored Boston's 24-23. Too bad the Pistons' dug
themselves an 18 point first half hole where their defense must of
fallen into.

I expect to see the defense they played in the 4th quarter the whole
game 4, otherwise this series is in danger of being over very shortly.

Hey Stat's why not observe the simple fact that Detroit Pistons aren't
displaying the character, grit and determination required to win a
championship.

I'd only disagree about McDyess -- he wasn't so bad. Hamilton was horrible
in the first half too when they fell so far behind, and I think Wallace
needs to just swear off the 3 unless he's got at least two seconds of being
uncovered to set and shoot.

It's not just the defense -- on offense they need to move, move, move or
they'll end up in the same dead zone that haunted them a bunch of times in
the regular season and when they lost against Philly and Orlando.

Can not shoot out of a slump by not shooting...

I'll admit the two seconds comment is an overstatement to make a point, but
I think one of the reasons he's missing his threes is that he's been
rushing them before he gets good looks. It's also possible he's not
getting the ball quickly enough when he is in position, since the quality
of the Pistons passing has been off and on, but still that's not a reason
to take rushed three with time left on the shot clock.

Some have been the opposite I think...he thinks about them too long because
of the slump...

They should start falling, he has to keep shooting or they can just collapse
into the paint and leave him.

They missed a bunch of open shots in the first half, they gave up a
ton of rebounds, Chauncey played terribly, and outsdie of Stuckey,
they don't have a consistent offensive threat on the bench. Oh yeah,
and they play three guards whenever Prince is out because they've
given up on Hayes and aren't even dressing Herrmann. And, give Boston
credit, they figured out how to get their "role players" involved, and
on the road at that.

I think they can shoot and rebound better. If Chauncey can't be
effective, then Detroit won't win the series. Stuckey's been playing
great -- for a rookie in his first ECF. But to be competitive,
Detroit needs an all-star performance from its point guard.

Obviously, game 3 is must-win for the Pistons. -- Joe

Could be. Maybe someone has a clip on Youtube of all of his last
thousand 3 attempts so we can compare....

I dunno. It seems like he's had some decent success inside by shooting
turnarounds and then later faking guys out and driving inside. If he can
force Boston to double him and then pass out I'd be OK with Boston
collapsing on him.

All this would depend on a lot better passing and movement than Detroit
has shown for long stretches, though. It doesn't make sense to get him
the ball inside with only 5-6 on the shot clock, so we'll see.
