Philadelphia (Philadelphia Inquirer) - A Roslyn fan cut off his own
testicles to celebrate New England's victory in the Superbowl, the
Philadelphia Inquirer reported Tuesday.
Robert Schmidt, 28, was so convinced The Eagles would win Sunday's game he
told fellow drinkers at a sports bar, "If New England wins I'll cut my balls
off," the paper said.
Friends at the bar in West Philadelphia , thought he was joking.
But after the game Schmidt went home, severed his testicles with a knife,
and drove 8 miles back to the bar with the testicles to show the shocked
drinkers what he had done.
Schmidt was taken to the local hospital where he remained in serious but
stable condition, the paper said.
The patriots 24-21 victory over The Philadelphia Eagles in Jacksonville,
Fla. was The Eagles first superbowl since Superbowl XV, Jan. 25 1981
when The Eagles lost to the Okland Raders 27-10
