He'd definately be a 4th quarter scoring threat, but is he worth the
headaches? How about we trade him straight up for Blount?

I was thinking the same thing when I heard Portland is trying to unload
him. The attitude is a major concern. When he first came into the
league I recall him saying he patterned himself after KG, so maybe KG
could keep him in check. Definately worth considering.

You guys are narrow minded. How could you not want a line up of Eddie
"Joy Stick" Griffin, and Darius Miles?

That's insulting. He's better than Lebron. After rumors spread that he
smelled of wine during a practice last season, Darius explained that he
had drank alcohol the night before and the odor was coming out when he
perspired.

Jesus only turned water into wine. Darius Miles turns mansweat into
wine. Try that, Lebron!

The "best" reason for not going after Darius is that the Wolves,
as an organization, apparently do not know how to handle the
"problem children" of the NBA. Glen Taylor certainly does not
have the background. I doubt that Hibbing MN, the UofMN, nor
even his years with the (whitewashed) Boston Celtics gave
McHale the necessary insight. My only knock on Flip Saunders
was that he had a little bit too much CBA" ("produce or we'll get
somebody else") attitude sometimes with fringe players. And
now we have rookie coach Casey, who seems to be overwhelmed
by the responsibilities of the job and can hardly be expected to
also play mentor to the, ahem, "less professsional" on his roster.

Nope, the Wolves need guys *with* character, not *characters*.

I do think that Darius' "A" game (assuming he brought it) would
be good for the Wolves, especially in the uptempo game that
seems to be the intended new look for the Wolves' this season.

But hey, McHale just conned the Blazers out of a cool Mill on
draft day. I don't think they're gonna forget it and do the Wolves
any more favors, say by taking Blount, Davis, or even Griffin.

All those beatings by the anorexic Fransiscan Sisters not for nothing,
Joy Stick could turn it around, with his new vision (assuming he had
the lazer surgery) I know all about fool me twice, but I like to
believe in redemption.

Yes, back in mid-May.

With all the "news" about Eddie, one thing that strikes me is how
self-centered he is. Think about all those 3-pt shots he takes.
And that comment he made about how he is a "power forward".

Sorry, I think you'd be "foolish" to put much hope in the
"Redemption Of Eddie".

It's frustrating to have these guys on the Wolves who look like they
could play at high levels, but don't deliver. Olowokandi, EddieG,
Ricky Davis, Blount. Heck, I better throw in Troy Hudson and
maybe even Jarics. If anything, this must piss off KG more than
anything else - and it's a direct reflection on the <cough>
abilities of one Kevin McHale.

Yah know, one of the digs that Flip zinged McHale with last year in a
interview was that Joe Dumars looks forward, not backwards and almost
never dwells on the glory days of the Chuck Daily Pistons.......

Along the same lines, Bill Russell once said, "You know you're old when
all you do is talk about what you did."

That makes McHale very old indeed. Glenn Taylor, come on buddy, time
for fresh thinking.

KG made it clear to management that he badly wanted the Wolves to
resign Hudson. I hold McHale responsible for the Boston trade, but
KG's personality issues were a big reason they were almost forced to
move Wally.

Actually, I'm not so sure that I'd like KG as GM either. As I
recall, there were rumors that he wanted Gary Payton too.

<chuckle> Or Wally's. After all, wasn't it Wally who said
something that massively pissed KG off? Saw a rumor that
Boston was trying to unload Szczerbiak.

It's time to shoot the moon. In order to capitalize on KG's remaining years as a premier NBA
talent-and that clock is certainly ticking down-the Wolves will have to take risks and get lucky.
That means rolling the dice on an enormously talented, recently dinged problem child like Portland's
Darius Miles, who'd fit perfectly into Casey's up-tempo scheme and is rumored to be available for
Jaric and one other player. Miles, like McCants, has demonstrated a streak of selfishness and
immaturity to go with a beguiling set of skills. But the incompetence of the Wolves' front office
has pushed them past the luxury of automatically passing on such risky characters. This year the
fans (and at least one hoops columnist) won't be gulled into assuming anything more.

Nor I, but he was correct about Cassell and Billups. Way off on
Hudson, Garrett and Sprewell.

Didn't he want Payton when Payton was still a good player?

What did Wally say?

Boston is trying to unload anybody and everybody but Pierce in order to
team Pierce with Iverson.

I agree with the article. The Wolves need to take a few calculated
risks and hope they pan out.

That was never reported. But recall that KG stewed in the
dressing room for an hour or so before going in and punching
Wally in the trainer's room.

In later years, they played cards together regularly on road trips.

<grin> KG probably bought his wife's engagement ring (which
you can spot from the 40th row it's so huge) using his winnings
off of Wally.

Which is wierd in it's own right.
