Was he the top recruit in the class of '75, or was it Bill Cartwright,
David Greenwood, or Bill Willoughby?

Dawkins was drafted #5, Willoughby was first pick in the 2nd round,
and Greenwood was #2 overall (Bulls) in 1979, after Magic Johnson.

Geez - I was 20 years old, going to school in Kalamazoo, and the cable
delivered 13 channels, including WGN in Chicago. The only one of the
three I'd heard of then was Dawkins, starting just before the draft.
So be default - Dawkins was better!!
