I can't see even the remote possibility of the Knicks making a deal to clear
the cap without coupling one of the bad contracts with David Lee. And if Lee
is traded, what do the Knicks get back?
IMO, it is going to be a PG. If you watched the draft, a lot of the guys
considered SG's are saying they want to play the 1. If that does happen,
there are going to be more than a few G's out there looking to hook up with
a new team. Hinrich is going to be traded for sure at some point and
probably so will Felton (who had a mini break out season last year).
I think maybe, Walsh looked at all the G's going off the board and figured
he will be able to trade for a vet. G and decided to go a different
direction, I just wish it was Lopez.
On top of that, I now will get to read all about how he develops into a pro
in the local rags.

You said it yourself in the above sentence...cap space. Wasn't that
supposed to be the goal here?

PG is one of those things you either have or you don't. I can't think
of too many examples of shooting guards who went on to make good point
guards. It's a totally different skill set. The best thing you can
do with a young 2 is play him at the 2. He'll have enough adjustments
to make going from college to the NBA without having to learn the most
complicated position on the floor on top of that.

I don't hate taking Hinrich and his contract for one of our garbage
contracts at all, but someone else will have something better to
offer.

Yeah, but I would hope they can at least include a prospect or project
player in the deal.

He has 4 years remaining on his deal I just saw, so he probably isn't
high on Walsh's list, but one thing to consider, he is coming off a
pretty bad season so his value isn't as it's peak and he has just
started a new contract. Those are things that could make him
unattractive to other teams. He might be worth more than Randolph and
Lee, but there probably are not going to be a lot of teams lining up
for his services.
