Oh and another thing about all of this. Oklahoma City is a fast growing
city clearly looking to be "big league." That said...did you notice he is
opposed to a renovation of Key Arena that is worth twice as much as what is
being proposed for Oklahom City? How great will the love affair be with
Clay Bennet t come 2011 or thereabouts when he is losing millions in a half
assed arena in OKC and demands a new facility? Oklahoma City is poposing
somethign less there then what he demanded up here.

Seems to me even odds that his partners get sick of the pending court
fighting and costs of appeals etc when the Hornets as likely as not will be
for sale soon enough.

Also keep in mind that this divorce between Seattle and Sonics ownership is
in no way indicative of how the community at large feels about the NBA. The
team's low attendance is attributable to the lousy performance on the floor.
When the team drew the 2nd pick in the NBA draft there was an outpouring of
local joy over the pending selection of potential phenom Kevin Durrant.
Since then a team that probably would have contended in the west let their
top two players leave and is in the OJ Mayo/Kevin Love sweepstakes while
ownership and the city engage in what looks like a divorce.

Most fans simply hope someone else buys the club. Several groups are out
there with the capital. I know of two locations for a new arena that I see
several times a week. One group even stepped forward offering to build the
thing on their own land but ownership for whatever reason rejected the plan.
This is the group OKC is going to be dealing with. They are complete idiots
when it comes to PR. The very first press conference following the sale
Bennett said he required a brand new arena. Honeymoon destroyed. Beware of
what you wish for.

Good for Seattle.

As I see it, if you can't make money with the Sonics in Seattle, then
you're very possibly the biggest idiot on Earth.

well those doofuses from Oklahoma aren't idiots. They have sabotaged their
chances quite overtly. And the previous ownership (Starbucks) shoulda just
stuck to coffee. They picked the week the Seahawks were in Detroit for the
Superbowl to demand a publically financed stadium...then got laughed off the
front pages and in a fit sold the club. Sure are some stupid billionairs
running around these days.

Well, at least Clay Bennett has the oil buisiness to fall back on if this
fails.
