Oh it definitely matters. I'd much rather have less of Tim Duncan's
points than Dirk's points on jumpers. I don't know where you got the
idea that jump shooters are more valuable than post-up guys. If Dirk
learned to use his size against inferior opponents, Dallas might have
won a championship. No doubting the guy's physical skills. But the
fact remains that he's S-O-F-T. Stats aren't everything. Guys like
Kiki Vandeweghe and Alex English are distant memories. Hearing Dirk
compared to the likes of Bird is just absurd.

Without a doubt. You live and die by the jump shot. If Dirk posted up
against the Warriors for instance, Dallas would have won that series
easily. There's another issue with Dirk of course. He's afraid to
shoot when the going gets tough.

Kobe probably is the MVP but it doesn't help his case when they make it
sound like a like a lifetime achievement award.

I don't think so... he's improved his defense a great deal and last year
was unquestionably his best season all around... by far. He also had
really turned it on this year in the 2nd half improving on a
not-as-good-as-last-year first half. He took a step backward this year and
wasn't as good but again was playing *really* well 2nd half.
