Laurel brought up quite a few legal sources that disagree with you and I
doubt any of them are Kobe or Laker fans. It seems to me the facts in the
case conflict with Faber's version of events much more so than Kobe's...
not only that, but reason... I do reserve some small doubts about Kobe,
that he could very well have been consciously guilty of rape, but it's
pretty insignificant IMO to the chance that Faber lied or was simply
mentally unstable to the point of not being to differentiate reality from
fiction and lies from truth.
It's your right to have a different standard for guilt but I happen to like
the US standard of "beyond a reasonable doubt," and I think this case didn't
even come *close* to that threshold.

The exact criteria along with how consistant the stories are that usually
used by a DA to go forward or not on a case.
Most of the legal experts were saying for months as the facts came out that
the DA had no real case.
Once she filed a law suit they all said it was pretty much over since now
her motive was also suspect.

FWIIW (not much since the interview with the reporter was on hannity's
radio show according to some blogger but this was new to me)
There was also a reporter that claimed he tried to get some court documents
unsealed.
Those were claimed to show she had accused other men of rape.
The records according to the story were sealed because she was under 18 at
the time.

If it had been they would have forced her to testify instead of dropping the
case.
The DA could not get elected as dog catcher after wasting the money he did
on a weak case with a weak witness.
