Dunleavy listened Monday to the judge say that Bryant has to stand trial for
rape, but that the case was weak. Bryant has been charged with felony sexual
assault against a 19-year-old Eagle, Colo., woman.
"I think this last week has changed a lot of people's mind about what the
outcome of this case may be," Dunleavy said. "I think it's more likely he's
going to probably get off. And if that's the case, it changes in a positive
way for them, as opposed to the alternative."
Jackson has coached Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen in Chicago and Bryant
and O'Neal with the Lakers. Now Jackson has Malone and Payton to go along
with O'Neal and Bryant.
Dunleavy was asked what he thought about Jackson having so much luck to
coach so many great players.
"Guy made a deal with the devil," Dunleavy joked. "He made a deal with the
devil. That's all I can say."
Dunleavy was asked why he didn't think of that.
"It wasn't offered to me," Dunleavy said, smiling.
