Yeah, Odom really established himself as an offenseive threat tonight...
going 4-9 with 9 points.
I love to see the opposition go 20 points on 20 shots. If Fisher didn't
have his best game of the playoffs, it would have been an early route.
Oh hey, great job LA in closing out the game. Don't bother fouling or
anything, why give yourselves a chance to comeback? I guess when you know
you're the inferior team you just, well, give up. >> Stay informed about: 8 out of 8 ESPN experts pick the Lakers |

Nice win for the smellyticks, they did what they were supposed to do
and if they do it three more times they will be the better team. But
getting all giddied up over the first game like a catholic schoolgirl
as if the series were over is a tad unseemly, no? >> Stay informed about: 8 out of 8 ESPN experts pick the Lakers |

I am deeply, fundamentally certain that no Lakers fans would have crowed
at ALL if the Lakers had won that game.
No. Wait. I'm exactly the /opposite/.

If you come out before the series starts and declare that the Lakers
"really won't have much of a chance" then a close, hard-fought win in
game one on your home court is just a minimal accomplishment. IIRC,
your first game home wins against the Hawks, Cavs and Pistons were all
big blowouts. On the other hand, the Lakers first away losses at Utah
and SA were also blowouts, with the Lakers dominated much more
convincingly than last night. Put those two facts together and Skepy's
woofing in a post from over a week ago does seem strangely silly. >> Stay informed about: 8 out of 8 ESPN experts pick the Lakers |

Yeah, individual heroics don't generally do it in the playoffs, do they?
I just don't think Gasol's gonna learn to box out against aggressive
players overnight.

The Celtics win through defense. The Lakers through offense. The Celts won
by playing their game. If your team can't even score 90 points, they have
NO chance. Period. Margin of victory has little if anything to do with
anything. >> Stay informed about: 8 out of 8 ESPN experts pick the Lakers |

he had 15 points and 8 boards which is almost his average for the playoffs...
he has played better and will play better... the lakers have lost the first game
on the road in 3 out of the 4 series in the playoffs...
that is the reason i picked the lakers 4-1... pau has to get acclimated to the
refs allowing them to push him in the back... it took him two games to get used
to it in the utah series... >> Stay informed about: 8 out of 8 ESPN experts pick the Lakers |

That was a close, hard fought 1st half. Lakers were held to @ 20 points
below their average by game's end. I see the Lakers win 81% of series when
they win the 1st game. What's the percentage when they lose the 1st game? I
know the overall Finals percentage vs. the Celtics: Lakers lose 4 to 1. >> Stay informed about: 8 out of 8 ESPN experts pick the Lakers |

What was unseemly was watching the Lakers play like a high school junior
varsity team in the final minute of the game... not understanding the simple
and basic necessity to foul to extend the game to have a chance to win. As
much as I like watching the Lakers lose (and get to do that 3 more times
this series), it was painful to watch that level of incompetence. >> Stay informed about: 8 out of 8 ESPN experts pick the Lakers |
