Frank, dubbed "Laura" by Shaquille O'Neal for griping about the Heat
center's physical play, took the comment in stride.
"Yeah, I heard that," the second-year coach said of O'Neal's comments in the
wake of Sunday's 110-97 victory that finished off a four-game sweep of the
Nets. "I'm not going to get into that. I guess my only retort is that we are
going to fight for each other, we're going to defend what we perceive as
right from wrong, and if it offends people because it affects them, that's a
consequence."
With the end of the series came the end of Frank's arguments about
officiating inequities.
"We said what we had to say at the time, and there's really no other
response," he said.
Nets forward Richard Jefferson said there was no reason to take umbrage.
"Shaq does that to everybody," Jefferson said. "Is that the first coach he's
talked bad about? He's called about the entire organization in Sacramento
`queens.'
"For him to take a shot at our coach, that's just Shaq being Shaq. It's
nothing personal. He's a character. He's not being malicious, he's just
joking and having fun, and having his team motivated, getting himself
motivated."
Despite the Heat's dominance in the series, Nets guard Jason Kidd said he
still views Detroit and Phoenix as the championship favorites.
