Wells's parting shot? He doesn't want to leave the organization. "This has
been the best time of my life," Wells said. "I want to be here. I don't want
to go nowhere. I just don't know why Coach won't play me. This is eating me
up. I feel like I've been in Portland for a day." The Grizzlies got Wells
from Portland in a December 2003 trade for Wesley Person in part because
Wells's relationship deteriorated with then-coach Maurice Cheeks.

Wells, recognized for his promptness, entered the building 5-10 minutes
late. He walked into a room where the team was assembled for a film session.
Fratello greeted Wells at the door and told the veteran guard to go home,
and not return for Game 4. "(Team security) called me later and said if I
came to the gym then I'd be arrested for trespassing," Wells said. "I don't
know what happeend. I didn't say anything to (Fratello). I was just as
confused as the fans were."

it's never Bonzi's fault...

oh you didn't hear? It's 100% the media in Portland. Bonzi is a perfect
gentleman. same with Rasheed and Jeff McInnis.

Rasheed still gets too many technical fouls -- I know, Laurel, fewer
than he used to, but still .... Aside from that, however, he has
really been a model citizen in Detroit. Coaches, team-mates, and fans
all love him, and he remains active in worthy community projects.
Maybe it's St. John's Wort; maybe it's just a fresh start/change of
scenery; maybe it's the fact that there's less presssure in Detroit to
be THE man, THE team leader. A cynic might say, "well, it's easy to be
a good guy when you come in and are the last piece to winning a
championship." But it wasn't clear the Pistons were going to be
champions until maybe after Game 4 of the Finals last year--they almost
lost to the Nets and also had a tough time with the Pacers in the EC
Finals. And Rasheed reacted well throughout that run. So far, so
good.--Joe

As I said before the Ts now are not a terrible problem compared to the
past.
He used to literally throw a tantrum and get tossed.
He still taunts crowds and gets reputation Ts along with the ones he so
richly deserves.
The last one when on the bench he was yelling "and one!" when he thought Ben
got fouled.
Should have had one in that game for taunting...they let that pass.

And the silver lining is he uses them as motivation. The year he was really
passive and had 10...at times I have to admit I actually wished for him to
get a T a few times...

Aside from that, however, he has
> really been a model citizen in Detroit. Coaches, team-mates, and fans

He is the same as he was in Portland. His game has not changed, he still
calls the defense and leads just fine. This team too relies on balanced
scoring instead of a superstar. He is as much a leader, he has the same
faults and strengths. He even takes the same number of FGAs.... he took on
more pressure with his 'guaranteed' win last year than he ever had in
Portland.

I was surprised when West made the trade for him. West has traditionally
avoided knuckleheads, almost always choosing character and good teamsmanship
over arrogance and selfishness.

So Shaq and Kobe never have shown either of those traits?
depends on the talent level how much coaches will tolerate....
Or maybe West thought he could turn him into a choir boy ala JWill?

Sarcasm aside for a moment, Wells is clearly a knucklehead. Rasheed seems
to have gone on Prozac or started dosing St. John's Wort every day. He seems
to have chilled substantially since getting to Detroit. McInnis I can't
speak to.

LOL. Point. But isn't Bonzi as talented as Mike Miller or
some of the other Griz guards who do play? I think probably
moreso.

That would be my guess.

Depends on the night. He would be worth a try IMO in any game because he can
go off and take over a game. He holds the blazers' record for points in a
playoff game. Think it was 48.

On the other hand... with anyone that allowed Rider on a team can it really
be too big a surprize for taking on Bonzi?...=)
