Watch out for dust devils. And the monotonous droll of a
baseball game can be like strobelights to a schitzophreniac.

I discovered back around '98 that tennis is a decent palliative until
November for me (although Federer's recent dominance has made the men's
side kinda boring to me).
Really nothing like a good long hotly-contested late-night USO match, bugs
and all.

Women's tennis has its upside, but I don't exactly
consider it a sport.

If you're going for spectacle, which it sounds like you are, keep an eye
out for the Sharapova-Hantuchova matchups . . . .
Positively blinding.
And we've already had what I call "Death-Blondes I" through "Death-Blondes
VII":

Sharapova's out with an injury, unfortunately.

Speak for yourselves. The Mets are good again, finally, and hopefully
they'll help me get through most, if not all, of the desert.

Ummmm, far be it for me to bring facts into this discussion, but the
Mets did lead the NL with 97 wins last year and lost in Game 7 of the
NLCS. That, to me, qualifies as "good."

Great for me, but I'm a Yankees fan. I hate the Mets,
but just because I root for the Yankees doesn't mean
watching a baseball closely isn't like strobe lights
to an Episcopalian.

Haven't Mets fans been saying that at the beginning of the last few
seasons? How's that working out for you?

Maybe baseball news doesn't make it down your way, but the Mets had
the best record in the majors last year.

I know of at least one other one. Well, I should say "knew". Maybe
he moved.
