It was Evans's first opportunity to be a head coach since he took over
the Denver Nuggets midway through the 2001-02 season after Dan Issel
resigned, but he had no illusions about trying to reinvent the wheel
or match Mitchell's volume on the sidelines. Evans approached his
role as a head coach the same way he approaches every other
assignment,
"I mean, beg yah pahdon sih? I mean, I pick yoh cotton sih? I mean,
that uhhh...Menudo...washisname..ahhh...Gino Vanelli can play some
ball. I mean, gaddang white boy hung like a nigga. I mean, shine yah
shoes mastah? I mean, WEEZIE!
