That he sure is. Another offensive player with absolutely no
defensive skills. He'll fit right in.
I wouldn't hate the idea as trade bait, but he's not coming, anyway.
Milano just offered him a buncha cash to play there, and these days,
dollars are worth in Europe what pesos are worth in America. I have a
hard time believing this isn't a Frederick Weis/Fran Vasquez/Milos
Vujanic situation.
I was hoping they'd go for a defender. So long as the Knicks are
losing, all of the players on the roster are going to lose value in
the eyes of other teams. So long as the Knicks don't play defense,
they will lose more often than they win. This does zero to help any
front.
I was initially glad they didn't trade for Mayo, since I predict he's
going to be a Marbury-like player...but that joy got killed pretty
quickly. >> Stay informed about: Good luck with that pick |

As far as judging Gallinari based upon his moves on the court at MSG,
I'm predicting your'e going to have to wait longer than that. I'll be
pretty surprised if he turns down Milano's cash. Maybe he'll come
over and play in a couple of years...which is fine, really, so long as
he can play defense. Oh wait... >> Stay informed about: Good luck with that pick |

1) The Knicks have no luck with European players. And I'm sure
Federick Weis is still on many people's mind.
2) The kid is 19 years old, so very raw, so he can either be really
good or really bad. At #6 the fans are expecting a more established
player.
3) He plays no D (but then again which European player plays D?) So
immediate he gets no love from NY fans that pride themselves in the
Ewing-led era of the best defense in the league.
But hey, he's a Knick, so let's give him a chance... >> Stay informed about: Good luck with that pick |

Darko Milicic called, says the other day he called Dumars and Dumars said he
can't remember who he was and hung up.

I'm more interested what Walshy will do on a larger scale over the summer
with the team. Does he really have the balls and the vision to use all
available means to clean up: trades, buy-outs, waivers, etc of any and all.
He didn't go for a PG. Does that mean he'll depend on Starbury this year?
Or does it mean that he has a plan of getting a PG for the long(er) run
through trades this summer? Did he go for Gallinari actually hoping to play
him this year? Or did he do it for the future when he might be more useful?
Or even to trade him eventually? Or did he just defer to D'? Does he really
believe someone like LeBron will actually want to come to NY in 2010? Is he
still listening to the "great basketball mind"' telling him it's better to
be entertaining on Broadway than to actually rebuild? And so on.

I am too, but between the D' hiring and the Gallinari drafting, I
haven't seen much yet to back up his words.
> He didn't go for a PG. Does that mean he'll depend on Starbury this year?
This year isn't going to matter, but the hope is he won't use Starbury
-- if the season is meaningless anyway, why inject more of the same
selfish culture that has doomed the roster into the locker room?

Too early for that.
> Did he go for Gallinari actually hoping to play
> him this year? Or did he do it for the future when he might be more useful?
The fact that he's gone with an all-offense, no-defense coach and
followed that up with an all-offense, no-defense lottery pick makes me
wonder about what he's up to.
> Does he really
> believe someone like LeBron will actually want to come to NY in 2010?
If LJ really is going to leave Ohio, where he's played and lived all
his life and has a legacy stamp (doubt it), the Nets are doing just
about everything they can to be the destination. If you look at what
they've done with the Kidd trade and yesterday, they're busy clearing
real cap room and bringing in solid youngsters. Plus they've got Jay-
Z on their side. So far it's Jersey/Brooklyn 1, Manhattan 0.
Like we're saying, time will tell and maybe Walsh will clear it out.
But so far I see no indication of that. Hiring a non-star coach and
drafting a solid all-around prospect (rather than a question mark)
would have gone farther to indicate that this is really an interim
team now with sights on the future rather than the present, and that
he'd overcome the usual Dolan "win now" mandate. As it is, your
"gimme my retirement paycheck" claims are gaining more credence by the
moment.

I'm not entertained. And, I suspect, neither is the majority, judging
from the boos raining down at the Garden last night.

The boos are no big deal. If he plays hard and puts out a strong effort on
both sides of the floor, fans will love him. Look at how the fans love David
Lee and it isn't exactly for his game.

This is the rub that I hate about Euro players, they stay and play in there
country becoming bigger than life there, then they wake up one day ans say
"I am going to now play in the NBA" and then all of a sudden, they are
fouling out in 10 minutes while getting abused. If they just play in the NBA
from the start, they would be done with the adjustment period. Sure there
are the Ginobili's and Parkers who have florished in this game, but there is
also a lot of Euro's who come in and just sit or never play. >> Stay informed about: Good luck with that pick |
