If Hinrich has a decent season as a back-up and Jay comes back (which
I'm beginning to get optimistic about - maybe slower, but also maybe
smarter), he could be a real trade asset next year. (Two big 'if's, I
know.)

I don't see that he's a burden financially. His contract will expire
not long after Chandler and Curry's new contracts kick in, and I don't
think he'll prevent either from being re-signed. As I've said before,
if the Bulls didn't have Jalen Rose, they'd be looking for him. He
can score, distribute and has playoff experience. Not perfect, of
course, but this is a team that started Ron Mercer two years ago, so
you have to temper your expectations.

No, he'll be expecting starter minutes and money. (Haven't heard much
about him during the FA season thus far, though. I assume he'll stay
in Indiana.)
