Looks like we will have to wait for the 76 trombones. The Inky wrote that
Hill is now out indefinitely with "torn knee cartilage" and will have an
operation on Tuesday. Weirdly, there does not appear to be any acute event
associated with the injury. There's mysterious talk about "wear and tear,"
which doesn't seem quite right when the patient is only, what 22 years old?
In the old days, before the rosters expanded to 15, I would suspect this was
a ride on the Fake Injury List. Not here; no one goes under the knife just
to hold a roster spot. Hill will still be on the 15 man squad, buy
obviously he won't be dressing for a while.
So it looks like one of the Bangin' White Guys, Randolph or Amundson, gets
to put on the uniform for the opener. As Amundson has been out the last few
preseason games himself, my guess is that Shavlik will get to gimp his way
around the court--- but probably not for too long!

It sounds as though you may have been tempting fate listing so clearly
how Kevin Ollie wouldn't be on the active roster. He only needs one
more--who's going to be the next to get struck down?

Alonzo Mourning - Even with his kidney condition, I'd take a chance and sign him. Even if he has to be restricted to 24 - 30 minutes a night, fine, grab him. We can fill the rest of the center minutes with Dalembert and Coleman (or if the Sixers are very lucky,..
Sixers set their sights low - According to the Inky this morning, the Sixers are looking to sign a free agent center! Alonzo Mourning? Noooooo. They are looking at Andrew DeClerq and Marc Jackson. Bleeaaaaaaahhhh. Go for 'Zo! ----- Kurt Straub
