Allen Iverson is going to be a Detroit Piston by the opening of next
season. Why? Cause Chauncy Billups has failed to lead this
extraordinary team back to the NBA finals.
If Billups retired today, Sheed as well, the pair wold be content having
obtained one ring.
Iverson still has that blood boiling, be easy to sway Denver to let him
go and send home their native son in Billups.

OK, "Reggie" let me guess, your "daughter" accidently forgot to sign off
again when she stopped by your house after going to the... let's see the
Auto Show isn't around now, what's the excuse for writing as "Anita"
this time?

Just a reminder, first you tried to blame your screwup that led to your
exposing your secret life as "Anita" on "her" signing on to your WebTV
account after "she" went with you to the Auto Show, then you tried to
blame it on the fact that there were six of you using WebTV in the same
house.

And where has Iverson led the Nuggets? Out in the first round, that's
where.

Iverson has never won anything and never will. That would be a horrible
trade. Iverson playoff wins in Denver - 1. Philly playoff wins without
Iverson - 2. Since 2001 Iverson led teams have played in 5 or less playoffs
games like 4 times, not counting the year he didn't even make the playoffs.

So yeah, if you don't care about getting out of the first round or winning
anything... go ahead and trade for Iverson. Great individual talent who
can't play on a team.

Iverson can absolutely play on a team.
What's unforturnate is that he's never had a team to play with. Pistons
fill that void!

Can't contemplate a better backcourt than Allen and Rip. Plus Prince
runs well, and Maxiell and Dyss can carry the heavyweight. Only thing
missing is a center which we can find by giving up Sheed. Even a second
string center would suffice as long as he can board.

These explanations are getting more and more bizarre. You're going to have
to do better than this.

That's the amazing thing about the Pistons. They've never had to deal
with player issues on the level that other teams have had, even when
we have had "notorious" troublemakers like Rodman and Sheed. We should
definitely be careful about age, we had Chris Webber knowing that he
had a limited shelf life, but I think the Pistons should do more to
show that they are a place where a ringless star can contribute to a
realistic shot at a title. Six straight conference finals should say a
lot more than it is saying.

I don't think it would be a bad trade. He may have aged just enough to let
some of that "me, me, me" attitude simmer down.

I think it's kinda misleading to point out a team stat when discussing an
individual's performance. How did Iverson do during that one win or the
four losses in Denver? That would be more indicative of his play than
anything. Even then it's hard to point to what he's done against one team.
If whoever he played against had a gameplan of shutting down Iverson then
those stats can be misleading too. I don't see many deficiencies in
Iverson's game. I wouldn't call him the best in the league, but I'd say
he's certainly one of the best in the league.

It could be different with more talent surrounding him.

Agreed about Rodman, Rasheed and Webber. I think Iverson, though
admittingly he's aged a bit, still has a few good years in him. He's still
a quick player and can do a few different things for the Pistons (if going
to Detroit is a realistic possibility). He would take some pressure off the
other studs opening them up for more chances and he's quick with a deadly
shot. I haven't watched him play very much except against the Pistons
occasionally, so I'm not sure how well he passes. He strikes me as one of
those I_can't_trust_anyone_else_to_score_so_I'm_gonna_do_it_all kinda guys.

Since last month?
Ivy 43% 24 pts on 22 FGA 4.5 asts at PG while being swept.
Rip 47% 22 pts on 17 FGA 4 asts at SG in 17 games.

An ETO is a player option. It may have player or team conditions attached.
He has one year 22 million on his contract.
He will not likely opt out. He he can go somewhere cheaper the following
year to chase a ring, why give up 22 mil?

It would take 'Sheed's ending contract with another 8 million and some
reason to give up Iversons bigger salary dump next summer. I just see no
reason for Denver to want a trade that benefits Detroit. I am sure they
would like Billups but to go with Iverson, not for him.

Those are Iverson's stats for one series. Any one team can have a good game
plan aginst another team. If you were coach, wouldn't one of your keys to
the game be to stop AI? Stop AI and you handcuff the Nuggets.

71 Playoff career games 40% fgp 29.5 pts on 27 FGAs... 4.5 asts

So 22 attempts on better than his playoff career FGA does not equal
stopped.
Jumpers were 72% of his shots in that series... often poor selections.
More to 'let AI take jumpers' from what I saw.
