I'm not sure if there are many of the old guard left on r.s.b.w. But we
used to keep up with who was where on this news group.

So in the spirit of days gone by, this is to let anyone who is
interested know that Jen Warden has left her position as head coach of
Boise State and accepted the head coaching job at Colorado State
University. Joining Jen on the CSU WBB staff is Kristin Becker, who was
an Assistant Coach at Kansas State, and Heath Alexander, a former
Assistant at Oregon State, and Randi Wirt, who graduated from Colorado
University in 2004 (played 4 years of BB with the Buffs).

Jen is coming into a CSU program that has fallen on hard times the past
2 or 3 years, and a disgruntled fan base. She has already begun to win
over players and fans alike. Her infectious enthusiasm and enviable
ability to lighten any situation with a quip and smile is a breath of
fresh air for those close to the program.

Jen played her basketball at Colordo University, and was also an
assistant under long time Buffs coach Ceal Barry.

Here's wishing Jen luck. She has a real opportunity to build a dynamite
program in Ft. Collins.

P,S. If anybody hears where Chris Denker lands, please post it.
Inquiring minds want to know. :-)

Bob

Thanks, Bob, for the new news on CSU. As regards the activity on r.s.b.w,
the best way to keep something going, is to keep something going.
The posts go a long way towards that. No posts, no newsgroup.

I wonder if USENET is going the way of the dodo due to migration to
forums on Yahoo, etc. ... non-USENET sites accomplishing much of
the same function. If USENET does fade away, I for one will miss it.
Been posting since perhaps 1990 I think, one way or the other.
Not a long time in regular years, but *ages* in computer-time.

I can remember discussions of, gasp, advertising on the Internet,
commercial use!!! Shunning the evil-doers who done it. How times
have changed, often for the better but not totally so ...

Anyway, thanks for the post (MWC area person here).

All very true, Guy. But I think 95% of the ones who used to contribute
here have left for specific team boards. There's proabably not too many
people left to post items. I know instead of checking r.s.b.w. every
day or two, now I usually just take a look once a month or every 6
weeks. (Newsguy has a long retention period.)

Some news groups are a casualty of that, but not all. I still try to
keep up with a half dozen or so.

: If USENET does fade away, I for one will miss it.

I definitely miss the "informational" days of r.s.b.w. This is where I
used to keep up with coaches, teams and players that I would not have
had a chance to know about by any other means.

I go back a few years beyond that. But I lurked for a long time. There
was a lot of activity back then and I didn't have much to contribute
until I moved into CSU country.

: Anyway, thanks for the post (MWC area person here).

Last season 11 out of the 13 players went to the AD and complained
about Coach Denker. That's about as close as a full out revolt as you
can get. Fans were concerned about some of the players leaving the
program.

Fortunately, only one actually left. Anika Walseth left for parts
unknown. The rest of the team seems to be pleased with the change. As I
stated earlier, Jen Warden is infusing the program with a lot of
enthusiasm.

It will be exciting to see if the Rams can get back in the competitive
category in the MWC next season. Things really fell apart the second
half of last season, after the revolt.

That's about all of the news I have.

P.S. If nothing else, maybe we can turn r.s.b.w into a MWC NG. <grin>

Cheers,

Bob

In the informational days of r.s.b.w. this was a good site for a wide range
of basketball information, not just fans of one team. There was also quite
a bit technical information, too.

Maybe one good sign is that I have not seen any rubbish posted here for
a short time.
