Kersey departing to be reunited with Porter
Jerome Kersey is stepping down as the Trail Blazers' director of player
programs after one season to take a job as an assistant coach on Terry
Porter's staff with the Milwaukee Bucks, sources familiar with the talks
said Thursday.
A Bucks' spokesperson declined to comment on the search process, but said an
announcement is expected soon, possibly as early as today.
Kersey, 42, is expected to fill the position previously held by Sam
Mitchell, who left the Bucks after two seasons as an assistant to join the
expansion Charlotte Bobcats coaching staff, and then was named Tuesday as
coach of the Toronto Raptors.
Kersey and Porter were teammates with the Blazers for 10 seasons from
1985-95 and helped lead Portland to appearances in the NBA Finals in 1990
against Detroit and 1992 against Chicago. Kersey could not be reached for
comment Thursday. >> Stay informed about: Jerome and Terry |

I've been so busy this week I didn't even see that. Mitchell was named head
coach of the Raptors? Wow.

Sam Mitchell head coach of the Raptors? I did not realize that either. How
many coaches have they had in the past several years? Seems like a new one
every season.
