"Oh, God, yes," West said in a phone interview from his Memphis office.
"He's as good as it gets in this league, trust me. I think this summer, to
me, was a perfect example of that. He's been through a lot this summer,
trading Shaquille, getting Kobe to re-sign there, the other moves he's made.
I think he's done just great."

Jerry West is just too nice to throw Kupcake under the bus. The jury is
still way out on Mitch. So far he gets an incomplete as his grade. He's
shown nothing unless bowing down to Kobe is what makes a GM special.

Until the Payton snafu, Mitch Kupchak had done as well as could
reasonably be expected this offseason.

Ahh, that "Kobe was behind all this" bullshit again.
Yeah, he is also the reason behind those tornados and hurricanes.

How about we trade Kupcake, Rambis and future exec choices to Memphis
for West? We will even throw in some Laker cheerleaders...

Jerry might have had a nervous breakdown this last year with all the
PJ/Shaq/Kobe drama but Man is he ever missed!

"eichler4" <eichler4.RemoveThis@comcast.net> laid this on me:

I don't think it was MK is "bowing down to Kobe", I think he was
acting on orders from on high...I do blame him for getting less than
equal value for the best center in the game. I think he panicked and
pulled the trigger to quick.

If we still had Chic and the Laker Cheerleaders I wouldn't care if we
ever won another game

If there's a child on the south side of Chicago who can't read, that
matters to me, even if it's not my child. If there's a senior citizen
somewhere who can't pay for her prescription and has to choose between
medicine and the rent, that makes my life poorer, even if it's not my
grandmother. If there's an Arab American family being rounded up without
benefit of an attorney or due process, that threatens my civil liberties.
It's that fundamental belief-I am my brother's keeper, I am my sisters'
keeper-that makes this country work. It's what allows us to pursue our
individual dreams, yet still come together as a single American family.
