you might want to rethink your order after tonight.
"East are still Boston, Detroit, and the
Cavs, in that order"
Just like the Patriots, I do believe that the Celtics aren't as good
as ppl thought, and I think the Magic are better than ppl think.
Doc Rivers could be Boston's problem, he was Orlando's coach for a few
yrs...lol
IMO, the Magic would have crushed the Hawks. Not saying they will win
the east or even beat Det, but just like the Hawks, they have nothing
to lose, and they have more talent than Alt. >> Stay informed about: Joe |

Well, after all the dumb mistakes I made in the last thread, I could
just say this was another. But my FULL quote was this: "Rightly or
wrongly, the favorites to come out of the East are still Boston,
Detroit, and the
Cavs, in that order." So, maybe preferring the Celtics was wrong,
but I think I was correct in describing who the actual favorites were.
Also, while I have been greatly amused by watching Atlanta win at home
against the Celtics, and while I'm rooting for the Hawks to win game
7, my actual prediction is that Boston beats them, and beats them
pretty soundly, and advances.
The Cavs - Celtics series (assuming that happens) will be interesting,
though. Boston has certainly looked a lot more "mortal" than they did
during the regular season. I mean hey, I love Joe Johnson -- he was
on my fantasy basketball team this year -- but Atlanta is not really
that good.

Could be right about that. You have to think that if Boston loses in
the first round, or maybe even in the second round, he's fired. And I
like to see ex-Piston assistant coach Mike Woodson get some
recognition for the job he's doing coaching the Hawks.

The most surprising thing in the playoffs is how the lower seeds in
the East did so much better than the lower seeds in the West. I'm not
counting out anything weird happening now, and I hope Detroit is
making any assumptions about Orlando, because I predict a very
competitive series.
Let's get it on. -- Joe >> Stay informed about: Joe |

Orlando won in the paint, and probably will continue to do so, but
Detroit got good guard and bench play, and that was more than enough
to blow it open in the second. Of course, if the Magic win game 2,
they will get the home court advantage. . . . -- Joe >> Stay informed about: Joe |

As I mentioned in the other thread, the Magic HAVE to hit their 3
pointers (2-15 isn't gonna cut it) or they don't have a chance to win
any games. >> Stay informed about: Joe |

Right. The question is, did they shoot 3s so poorly in game 1 because
of Detroit's defense, or because they were just having a sub-par
shooting night? My guess is it's a bit of both: that in later games
in the series, they will do noticeably better than 2-15, but not as
well as they did during the regular season.
The other problem I see for the Magic is their FT shooting. As Van
Gundy said, if they could have just shot 80%, they would have been
much closer.
Anyway, I predict closer games and a competitive series. And it
should be interesting to watch Boston-Cleveland too.-- Joe >> Stay informed about: Joe |

Hey, I'm just rooting for it to go seven games, have all of them be
close, maybe a couple with overtimes, lots of minutes for the
starters. . . . -- Joe >> Stay informed about: Joe |

I will be happy if I'm wrong, but I have the feeling Boston Cleveland will
consist of a lot of ugly slow half court sets with low shooting
percentages, and many, many trips to the foul line, and scores in the 80s
and 90s. I think by the time it ends one or both teams will feel they were
royally hosed by the refs. >> Stay informed about: Joe |

I think the Celtics will sweep the Cavs. Cavs, except for LeBron, are
not athletic like the Hawks were. Celtics scored on average 97+
against the Cavs in the 4 games they played.
