Wow! Ancient history. Williams was a second round pick back in the
1990 draft (46th overall) from out of Elizabeth City State University.
He was Aaron McKey's backup behind Sam Mitchell. He was a good scorer
off the bench but he was atrocious on defense. His biggest problem
was that he was never well coached in college and, at the time he was
drafted, didn't have a good "basketball" mentality. He was on the
team at the time Larry Brown was the coach and most thought he would
learn and flourish under Brown's tutelage.
His last season was 1994 where he appeared in 68 games averaging a
little over 14 minutes a game scoring an average of 6.3 points per
game and no 3 pointers, less than 1 steal, assist or blocks per game
and a little over 2 rebounds per game.
He has since become a globe-trotter, playing in France, Israel, Italy,
Turkey and Greece. Most of his time has been spent in Israel, where he
is an established star. Williams averaged 12.8 points with Hapoel Tel
Aviv lat season.
There was just too much talent on the Pacers at the time Williams was
there and even when he did get to play, he didn't show enough. Hence
he was cut lose after the 1994 season and has never returned to the
NBA.
