If the Lakers offered Kobe for the Blazers #1 draft pick, would you make
the deal?

Deal or no deal?

not only would about 99% of blazers fans say nommediately, but so
would 99% of the remaining 1% after thinkinag about it for 3 seconds.

and so would 100% of the blazer staff

but then the NBA would say no too because it wouldn' work with the
salary cap

Figure out a way to dump Zach & DMiles without giving up Oden & I'm
all in.

As for Kobe for our #1 straight across, no effing way (even though it
would mean I beat Dennis out of $20) : )

Go Blazers !

I might give it 10 seconds....

The cap could be worked in a package without giving up anything else of great BBall value if Kobe
greatly desired to come to portland...... Kobe has a no-trade clause so would not except the trade
without keeping the best core players. (most likely not even then)

So Portland could say unload 2 of the garbage contracts with Oden, make it Raef, Miles, Webster and
Jones ending contract for Kobe and Bynum... (Jim Buss thinks Bynum is Oden anyway, another reason
this never happens) .... ...most likely it would be mutual rejection, Kobe has a no-trade clause and
can pick the team. Lakers would be nuts to trade him to the west so the Bulls would be most likely
if he is actually traded.

But IMO he is not getting a trade this summer while he is ranting and killing what they would get
back, they have a year and a half before it gets to 'something or nothing' time.

For speculation sake (since it is not happening) what about adding Kobe if keeping both the core
(except Zach) and keep Oden? Say Zach, Martell, Freddy's ending contract, Sergio and a future pick
for Kobe?
Or is this no to the Kobe idea period? This would be the wants another title Kobe not the playing
for a scoring title version...

Starting would be Jack, Roy, Kobe at the 3, LA and Oden

Or could be a Roy and Kobe backcourt, Ime or Travis, LA, and Oden

ok....well the hypothetical was kobe for the #1 so for fun let's stick
with that.

And this proposal comes after watching what Lebron did last night and
wondering if in 3 or 4 years Durant could be that good...

So LA would have to "broker" this "deal" : :)

Portland sends #1 to LA along with Lafrentz and Miles
and Webster to Seattle

LA sends Kobe and Radmonovich to Seattle

Seattle sends the # 2 pick, Ray Allen, Robert Swift, and a resigned
R.Lewis to portland (hey...they're getting the game's best player and
he's only 29...great for ticket sales in Ok Cityfor years)

portland sends Zach to boston for the #5 and theo ratliff's expiring
contract

I suppose we could leave it at that, but as long as we're reaching:

Portland sends R.Lewis and Dan Dickau to atlanta

Atlanta then sends the #3 pick and Josh Smith to portland and whatever
it takes to Memphis (Atlanta can't resist a SF and they need a PG)

then Memphis sends the #4 pick and Pau Gasol to portland (west is gone
so they're obviously dumb)

So portlands lineup:

PG: Jack, Sergio
SG: Roy, Allen, Jones
SF: Durant, Smith, Outlaw
PF: Aldridge, Gasol
C: Joel, Swift

and the #3, #4, & #5 pick

And you know what?..even if that could all happen, there's probably a
lot of blazer fans that would still want to keep the #1 and draft Oden
