If anyone doesnt deserve the championship it is him... I saw him up infront
in one of the pictures smiling like he deserved it. Yeahhhh- no. White
Chocolate Jayson Williams deserved it a thousand times more than Gary
Payton. Not to mention Payton almost f__ked it up for Miami twice. Once when
he was talking to the ref in the middle of crunch time, and another when he
yanked on Terrys jersey when Terry was shooting the three. Now it didnt
effect the three shot as far as I can tell but if thats a foul.. Terry
shoots 3 and ties it.

Payton is lucky to have been on a team with people who wanted it so bad.

The person I hated seeing get a championship the most was Walker. Yes he got
14 points but he also hurts the Heat often times with his selfish 3
pointers... I hated seeing him get it though because if he isnt whining like
a bitch with his squinty eyes, then he is being a cocky bastard.

With that said I am happy for all of the other Heat players.. they deserved
every bit of it...

Payton isn't lucky; One of the best point guards of the past, he sacrificed
salary first with the Lakers, later with Miami in search of a championship.

He hit the two close out jump shots that won two of the four games. One
for the victory with 9 seconds left, the other for the tie to send us to
overtime. Gary deserves his ring..........Stan

He made several crucial shots this series that helped Miami to win.

I don't know that any point guard on Miami really deserved it. I
cringed every time I saw Williams throw up a shot.

he "sacrificed" in the same way that Mitch Richmond "sacrificed" with
the Lakers

Aside from the Hawks, Payton wouldn't start at point guard for a single
team in this league. It was either come off the bench and ride
coattails to a title or go home and play with Shawn Kemp's illegitimate
kids.

You're wasting your time trying to explain something to someone that
STILL thinks that Wade committed a BC violation in game 5, EVEN after
someone posted the rule(s) in the Mavs NG for all to see.

Sacrificing money to get a ring doesnt make you great. He did very little to
help Miami win a championship and he almost helped them throw it away in
last nights game.

No, but it is a reason to deserve it. Payton and Mourning were already
great years before the championship, now, unlike Malone, they have a ring as
well.

Payton hit some key shots that had a demoralizing effect, at least on this
Mavs supporter.

Finally, Seattle gave a better try against Jordan's Bulls than Dallas did
against Wade's, and now that you know what it's like when you're up against
the ref's annointed one, you should be able to appreciate Payton better.

When you lob the ball up 28 times it is bound to go in a few times. Which is
exactly what happened
