Professionalism, work ethic, and drive I never doubted. I stiill
think he is as dirty as they come and a hypocrite. Plus, he seems to
have a habit of making unequivocal statements, then backing out of
them (he once said he was not returning to the Jazz, then signed a big
contract. He aslo said that it would be the Lakers or retirement, now
he is considering other teams)
I always consdered him a great player, and I still hated him. I don't
expect that to change, even if he does sign with the Spurs. Will
still root for the Spurs, though.

It's not just a team that might win the championship. It's the team
that's the favorite. That basically doesn't need him.
If he were going to Houston or Miami, it wouldn't bother me. He could be
the piece that turns one of those teams into a legit contender.
But it just seems a little desparate for a ring -- more focused on
sharing somebody else's than earning his own. >> Stay informed about: Malone to the Spurs? |

Karl played the 5 occasionally for the Jazz - most notably in, what was it,
98, against the Kings. He told Sloan to put him at the 5 guarding Vlade at
the end of the game, and blocked his shot, ensuring the victory. >> Stay informed about: Malone to the Spurs? |

Hey, I think he's a decent guy, but I still don't want him to get a
ring because he's a DIRTY player.

Didn't Malone play Game 1, scored a whopping 4 points, and the Lakers
lost? Then he played parts of Game 2, and the Lakers won in OT?
He was a non-factor in Games 3 and 4, and didn't even play Game 5.
Game 1, the Lakers lost by 12 points
Game 2, Detroit lost by 8 points in OT
Game 3, Lakers lost by 20 points
Game 4, Lakers lost by 8 points
Game 5, Lakers lost by 13 points.
It is an awfully small sample size, but it seems that whether Malone
play full strength, half-strength, or didn't play at all have little
effect on the final result. Him not playing also gave much playing
time to *snicker* Luke Walton, who happened to be one bright spot for
the Lakers. >> Stay informed about: Malone to the Spurs? |

Maybe this would hold some truth if it weren't for the fact that it is the
SPURS who have been chasing Malone and his agent to bring him to their team.
Or should he not play for them because they are favored to be a contender... >> Stay informed about: Malone to the Spurs? |

SA was the betting favorite until it was announced the Lakers would sign
Payton and Malone (weekend of 7/5-6/03), at which point LA became the
favorite. Malone specifically said he did not take the much higher offer
from SA becasue they were defending champs.
But, except for the premise being false, nice theory.
> And right now, today, assuming the Shaq trade goes through, who are the

Minnesota was the favorite last week, nobody is now as futures are
currently off the board for a few days, for obvious reasons.
> That's b.s. and you know it. He wants to go there because, with or

Sounds like he wants to go where he could be the difference in a title or
no title.
Although, it should be noted, it is SA (for the second straight year)
aggressively courting Malone, not the other way around. Karl seems to be
very interested in Miami, but they do not appear to want him nearly as bad
as SA does.
