F.BKN_Malone.4cfe578.html
The agent for unsigned forward Karl Malone contacted the Spurs over the
weekend hoping to arrange a conversation between Malone and Gregg Popovich,
the Spurs' coach and executive vice-president. More Spurs coverage
Presumably, that conversation will be about Malone signing to play for the
Spurs this season.
Malone, who played for the Los Angeles Lakers last season, has yet to
recover from surgery on his right knee in July. He was presumed to be
leaning toward re-signing with the Lakers but last week said he would not
play for them again because of a disagreement with star guard Kobe Bryant.
The Spurs for months have acknowledged their willingness to sign Malone, 41,
if he decides to continue playing. Popovich promised to keep a roster spot
available if, and when, he decided he wanted to play for the Spurs.
"It's up to Karl to decide what he is going to do and with whatever team,"
Popovich said. "I'm just waiting, trying to be patient, and seeing what he
wants to do. When he's ready to start talking to people about wanting to
play, I will be ready to talk to him.
A spokesperson in the office of Dwight Manley, Malone's agent, issued a "no
comment" Monday on the agent's behalf to all questions about the forward. >> Stay informed about: Malone contacts Spurs |

Yes, you did.
Although Pop's statements to the media show that the Spurs have courted
Malone more than Malone has courted the Spurs. >> Stay informed about: Malone contacts Spurs |

Well, he courted him in the off season-don't know if he pursued him at
all recently. I will concede that Pop has wanted Malone on the Spurs
for awhile.
Well, this is pretty much a done deal. I am now going to have to
reconcile my strong dislike of Malone with my support of the Spurs.
Not sure how that's going to work. >> Stay informed about: Malone contacts Spurs |

Well, now all that has to happen is for Popovich to retire as coach and hire
Phil Jackson. Who knows, maybe they'll even make a run at Shaq when he's a
free agent. >> Stay informed about: Malone contacts Spurs |

Their current PF has been playing out of position at the four. Malone
would move him to his natural position. >> Stay informed about: Malone contacts Spurs |

You have got to be kidding me! Duncan is the best PF ever. He could never
play center.

tim duncan plays center when malik is on the floor. he guards centers
on a regular basis, they they often guard duncan. sometimes minnie puts
their small forward, garnett, on duncan because garnet is a good
defender.

power forward' argument. >> Stay informed about: Malone contacts Spurs |
