Malone contacts Spurs

sure, why not? if dirk can be put on the all-star team as center even
though he plays small forward and power forward, then a position is
just a temporary label.

That's a different, and valid, argument. Few centers cannot play PF, many
PF cannot play center.

This is leaving aside the ludicrous statement that he is "naturally" a
PF, when he is taller than Bill Russell (6'11" vs 6'10") and heavier
besides (260 vs 220). And, of course, you're excluding all those people
who were born before basketball was invented, if you're saying that
people were BORN to play basketball at a specific position. When it
started, there was no PF position, just 2 guards, 2 forwards, and 1 center.

Duncan is an excellent player, and one of the most complete out there
(only 2 people can even be mentioned in the same breath, and that's
Garnett and Kirilenko). He's obviously well suited for the PF position,
but he'd dominate as a C as well.
