Except that Dave just said that Duncan 'guards centers on a regular
basis'. Therefore, shouldn't he be listed as a center for purposes of
the All-NBA team?

Please.
As soon as Malone starts making plays for your team you'll forget about his
flying elbows, at least until the next one separates another guy from
reality, just like any other NBA fan would.
I think even you know that it won't be all that difficult.

Given that he already defends Bowen's consistent thuggery, can't imagine it
would be any other way.

That's a different, and valid, argument. Few centers cannot play PF, many
PF cannot play center.

Okay, I'll close-caption for the basketball-impaired:
Tim Duncan is much more of a classical center than pure PF Amare
Stoudemire, who is playing center well currently. This, and Duncan's time
at center in the past (25% of his minutes last year) is primie facie
evidence that he can handle the position full-time.

No way. Duncan is naturally a PF and is obviously the most gifted player
ever to play the game, if you exclude the centers.

More gifted than Jordan? More gifted that Moses (who AVERAGED a triple
double)? Bird, Magic, Dr J? Any of these names ring a bell?
This is leaving aside the ludicrous statement that he is "naturally" a
PF, when he is taller than Bill Russell (6'11" vs 6'10") and heavier
besides (260 vs 220). And, of course, you're excluding all those people
who were born before basketball was invented, if you're saying that
people were BORN to play basketball at a specific position. When it
started, there was no PF position, just 2 guards, 2 forwards, and 1 center.
Duncan is an excellent player, and one of the most complete out there
(only 2 people can even be mentioned in the same breath, and that's
Garnett and Kirilenko). He's obviously well suited for the PF position,
but he'd dominate as a C as well. >> Stay informed about: Malone contacts Spurs |
