Wasn't my opinion -- it was McGraw's argument.

The way they lost vs. Golden State was unforgiveable, I have no argument
there. I actually thought they'd drop these last two plus the Clipper's
game -- I just didn't see how we'd have fresh legs in the back end of a
road back-to-back and the game at the end of a 7 game trip, both
hardcore running teams.
But the concern isn't about the W/L record on the trip for me, but the
way that, without rhyme nor reason, the team goes through
incomprehensible mental lapses. It's not just the cold shooting of a
team that relies on jumpers. It's defense, it's ballhandling, it's
passing, sometimes even free throw shooting.
Prior to GS, Skiles stated that he impressed upon the team at half-time
in Sacramento how close they were despite not hitting any shots... "and
then we came out there and lay an egg," in his words.
Perhaps having a post option to feed into would solve some things -- not
much of a play that 5 guys need to run to do that. I doubt it, though.
If I were an outside observer, I'd say it's "maturity". You hope that
comes. Pax tried tinkering with it last season by not bringing Griff
back along with AD's departure, and we saw it blow up in his face.
You might laugh, but I keep thinking of Portland (hi, Laurel!) prior to
their bringing Buck Williams in. They were talented but extremely
erratic before that, even with Drexler and Porter in the backcourt. Our
guys aren't at each other's throats like they were, though.
Otherwise, it's wait and watch. This season has already been full of
surprises.
