I dunno about this one...Is this a sign that Dumars is looking at the
up coming season as a re-tooling type of season? Even though he has
said that he wants to stay in title contention and doesn't believe in
scrapping a team...

Maybe I'm just doubting Curry's abilities but you can't blame me...
Maybe the team will respect him more? I would rather had Porter or
maybe even Cowens. I hope this works out.

Some re-tooling is almost manditory, I think. A little tinkerning and still
staying in contention is not out of the realm of possibilities.

As for Mr. Curry. I get the feeling he is the coach you hire to fire when
the guy you really want is available. Just a feeling.

First, Bill Laimbeer should feel insulted. He has proven himself a
winner at every level including coaching. The job should have been
offered him first! Fans know it, why doesn't Joe?

Second, Michael Curry is a part of this losing season already! He has
no credentials to coach. Had little respect from the teamates that he
won the championship with in 04 and now is being asked to lead
them....NO!

Face it, Dumars signing Curry for three seasons is another commitment to
not winning a title for the same length of time.
I told you you wouldn't win with Flip and this is the same thing being
that Curry can't enter in any new blood!

This is a seasoned team! You don't administer a rookie coach with them.
The window on this team is beginning to close it requires a winning
coach, a man of discipline and strong personality. Collins or Laimbeer
are the only two options available that fit the bill.

It just continues the trend in the NBA of the young assistants getting
their chance. Vinney Del Negro in Chicago and now Michael Currey. You
could probably put Terry Porter on the list even though he did have a
couple of years of head coaching with the Bucks. Avery Johnson is/was
another example. I think it is a good trend and I think Currey is a
good choice for the Pistons. I just hope he doesn't turn out to be
another Alvin Gentry.

I've not heard Laimbeer campaign for the job. Don't you think if he
wanted to be the Pistons' head coach, he might actually seek it out
when it became available?

And you don't have our respect nor do you have any credentials. Many
of the best head NBA coaches started as assistants and many have done
very well in there first year. Give Michael Curry a chance before you
throw him under the bus.

Laimbeer would also be a rookie coach. WNBA experience doesn't count.

Somebody else mentioned this...not in the NBA. I'm surprised you missed
this one. If Curry had coached in the WNBA and Laimbeer had no coaching
you'd no doubt be bitching about Curry's lack of NBA experience. You wanted
anybody but Flip, now quit bitching. You got what you wanted.

The same thing can be said for 29 other head coaches. Nice BOLD prediction.

If Curry has no experience, then how do you know he isn't a man of
discipline and have a strong personality. Most of us know him as a player,
but nobody knows him as a coach.

NBA coach is not in his resume...

How do you know he was not?
Maybe he prefered his current job...short season better view...players that
do not argue and he would not be tempted to hit... ;-)

It was a seasoned team...they are making trades...only you think that is to
get iverson and get older....Yeah it is called rebuilding....and the perfect
time to groom a rookie head coach.

IT meant that Flip never should have been hired.

Think a minute!

The Pistons has recently won a championship when Sauders came in. Had
been back to the NBA finals as well. Now here comes a coach who's never
been in contention. How can lead or take a team somewhere that he
himself had never been. Pistons had a DUTY to hire some coach who at
least had won a championship and could then look team members eye to eye
and hold their respect.

What did Flip first do? In error he instructed the Pistons to go with a
primary zone defense.
That's wrong, being that it was tough man to man defense that got them
the victory over LA and the title!!! He doomed himself the first time
he opened his mouth and tried to focus on offense only.

Now what about Curry? Again, no credentials and no reason to respect
him. At best he'll give us exactly what his career was about,
medeocrity! Then he'll be fired again when he neither should have ever
been hired. The choices were clear and simple ones. Laimbeer who's
proven to be a winner. OR Doug Collins who lined up two teams prior to
greatness and then robbed of the chance to deliver them and hold the
titles himself.

Which they lost with Brown's leaving the team for 'health' reasons a couple
of times and his players knowing he was shopping for other jobs (illegally
while under contract).

Now here comes a coach who's

Yep... no coach has ever won their first championship... Phil Jackson will
obviously beat Doc Rivers this season.

Question #1. Name those coaches that had won at least one championship
fitting your requirements that were avalaible at the time Brown said 'buy me
out' and Dumars hired Flip.... Does one in 1979 but mostly lottery teams
since then work for you?

Question #2 Name one available that had more experience and championships
than Riley, because that is who beat Flip, and according to you, was
supposed to win the next year too.

>Pistons had a DUTY to hire some coach who
> at least had won a championship and could then look team members eye

You could see that right off the bat ...so disrespectful they started 37-5,
second-best first half in NBA history, and set a franchise record for wins
and road wins, and had 4 starters go to the all-star game. You said none of
them would 'play' for flip....

Question #3
Tell me... since that is what it takes.... how any coach available was
supposed to get the pistons with no superstar past Miami with Riles
championship coaching and your guy shaq when you declared no one could do
so, not only the year Miami won but the next year going into the
championships too IIRC. That 4 time champion coach that lost in the first
round coming off a championship with the same core team.

Actually answer those questions directly instead of one of your rants
please.
