I heard while watching the Red Sox game tonight that the Celtics signed
him. Is this a good pick up for the Celtics? I'm awhere he wasn't used
much during the two seasons with the G.S. Warriors. I read on the net
the Celtics looking at him as a possible back up Center to Perk.

IMO, it could be good and there's really no downside if the contract
details are true...vet minimum with team option for a 2nd year.

Reading Golden State fan boards, O'Bryant is a very divisive player.
One camp thinks he's a bust while there's a strong contingency that
says he has not been developed well by Nelson and the rest of the
Golden State organization. Mostly because his style of play isn't
conducive to "Nellie-ball."

Boston won 60+ games last year with essentially Pollard as their only
backup 7 footer. (PJ Brown's contributions came primarily in the
postseason). So it seems like a good gamble to sign a legit 7 footer
who would bascially be just finishing his senior season in college and
see what Clifford Ray can do with him.

In my opinion, as a GSW season ticket holder, this could be a MAJOR
coup for Ainge. He's got low expectations, still is 22 years old, has
a 7'5% wingspan, blocks shots, has a nice jump hook in the lane, and
can hit the 12-15 foot face up. He's a strong finisher in the block.
He was underutilized here. Good luck.
