If there had been McGrady or Carter or Paul Pierce instead,
very likely yes.

Since you are an obvious Kobe jocker, answer this: does Kobe
get three rings if Shaq had not been there?

Would you care to let me know how you came to the conclusion that I am an
"obvious Kobe jocker"? I have never made any post that would insinuate that
so good luck. What I am is tired of is all the Kobe bashing that is going on
right now. Both Kobe and Shaq are responsible for the breakup of this
dynamic duo and anyone that tries to put the blame on one and not the other
is an ignoramus.

Neither McGrady, Carter, or Pierce are as good basketball players as Bryant.
Without Shaq and KEEPING the other players the Lakers had at the time it
would be pretty doubtful that KB would be wearing three rings. But removing
Bryant and inserting one of the other players you mentioned definitely does
not guarantee three rings either.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. Shaq is best suited to a slow tempo,
walk-it-up, halfcourt offense. The Heat will probably be more efficient and
shoot a higher FG%, but with fewer shots per game, scoring may not go up
dramatically.

You guys are both up your ass. The Lakers won three championships
because they had Shaq AND Kobe. And I suppose Phil deserves some of the
credit here too.

His departure from Houston may have had something to do with that. IIRC he
was slamming his teammates while still a Rocket, then was traded a couple
of days later.

He was asking for a trade, and slamming one teammate in particular.... It
was after the season.

He may be a dick, but is there seriously anyone who doesn't think he's a
HOFer? He's one of the top few point guards in the history of the game.

I do. Moreso than, say, Jason Kidd.

If there had been a Duncan, KG, or Yao there, very likely yes.

Lamar Odom has been openly enthusiastic about not just playing for the
Lakers, but specifically playing with Kobe.

wasn't really meant as a dis, i honeslty had no idea so many people
seriously thought so much of him.
i've followed gary's career for a good chunk, and honestly, I just don't see
him as HoF. not saying he hasnt had a great career, but I just don't see
it. Don't worry, if he gets inducted in a few years, i'll be man enough to
come back to eat some crow.
don't hold your breath though....
