The Sun have traded Pee Wee Johnson and their second- and third-round picks
to the Silver Stars for their first (No. 3), second and third picks. I am
stunned, to say the least.

The trade makes absolutely no sense. San Antonio already has a good point guard
in Azzi. Now the Sun have none as Black is a free agent.

The Sun are banking lots of draft picks, and Pee Wee was the only valuable
player they were willing to let go. I'd look for several other big trades with
more teams involved before it's all over.

I think the wildness and craziness has only begun. Connecticut is actually
being quite smart to build their team on the draft. Rookies are cheap and
the Sun own the rights to the players for a number of years. Look at the
Detroit Shock. I don't know about Pee Wee's free agent status, but I can
understand the Sun unloading her now. The Sparks are in the same situation
with a number of veteran players on the verge of turning into unrestricted
free agents either this year or next.
