Penn State was robbed in the selections. They did get a number one
seed but the regional they play in, is hosted on UCONNS homecourt and
UCONN is in the bracket. When they get into the elite 8, they will
face UCONN on there homecourt which I think is ridiculous. If you need
to, put UCONN in a different bracket and have them be a NO.1 seed and
put PSU in a NO. 2 seed place but do not have them play at a different
teams home court. The only thing I can say right now is that UCONN got
a pretty easy break getting homecourt advantage into the final four.
They basically have it all the way to the final four. Penn State
deserved the 1. seed. Heck, they beat Purdue at Purdue and at home.
They also whipped Texas and played a very strong schedule. They have
one of the best starting line ups in the countryMazzante (Mazzante 4
time 1st team all bigten, an all American and 2x bigten POY, Tanisha
Wright, 2x Big ten defensive POY, a great PG in Strom, Brungo who has
been rock solid and the 6-6 Russell)but nobody beats UCONN at home.
Duke did pull it off earlier this year but they needed a barrage of
dumb UCONN mistakes and 13 points in the last 2 minutes to pull it
off. I dunno. I'm just VERY irritated right now if you cannot tell.
lol.

PS: Texas got a NO. 1 and Purdue didn't on a 3 loss season? Don't get
me started on that.

It's actually a worse situation for Penn State than you imagine.

Before even worrying about UConn, Penn State would have to play Virginia Tech
at Virginia Tech in the 2nd round if the seedings hold out.

Well we'll see. If you're deserving of a 1 seed, you can handle it. BC is a 3
seed and won in Hartford. As for having homecourt until the Final 4, Tennessee
had the same last year.

Please tell me what other 1 seed has ever been required to handle playing twice
on an opponents home court in the same NCAA women's basketball tournament. I'd
really like to know.

Hey, I'm a Maryland fan. We're happy just to slip in (as a #12 seed vs. future
ACC rival Miami).

Penn State was considered the lowest #1 so they play the toughest #2,
although Purdue could also be considered the toughest #2. As for home
court, well what other #1 should play in Hartford? Or what other #2?

Besides, it's only a 6-hour drive from the Penn State area to Hartford,
so you can drive or fly to the regional games just like UCONN fans have
had to do in every previous tournament.

Penn State will have more fans at Hartford than UCONN had at TN this
year or Duke had at Hartford, and look how those two games turned out.

I thought it was interesting that the committee matched up UCONN and PS
because it's known that UCONN (along with other teams) won't play Penn
State otherwise because of Rene Portland's past comments about the
sexual preferences of players on other teams courting recruits.

I"m looking forward to watching UCONN vs. Penn State and I'll be in
section 213.

I mean, Penn State does technically get the NO1. seed but the
advantage is obviously UCONN. UCONN plays in Connecticut for the 1st
two rounds then gets homecourt to the Final Four. I think that the
NCAA commity was really trying to say that UCONN didn't get a NO1 seed
because they didnt earn but they are saying UCONN does deserve
homecourt advantage to the final four where they will have 16,000+
screaming fans for them. Sure Happy Valley will bring a good group of
fans to Hartford but they cannot compete with the UCONN fans. I have
watched maybe 2 games of theres on TV and the crowd was ballistic
everytime they scored. Penn State has a great crowd, don't get me
wrong, but maybe 500 people max(probably) cannot at all compete with
16000. Ya know? I just think that the commity did not do a very good
job with Penn State and they are giving UCONN a free ride to the Final
Four. A match-up that I would love to see though is UCONN PSU on a
NEUTRAL court or PSU-Tennessee.

Same as when UCONN beat TN at TN? Same as when Duke beat UCONN at UCONN?

When has a school that was hosting the regional games and been a top 3
seed not been assigned to play in their home region? How close is TN to
their regional this year and last year?

It is a given that UCONN would play in Hartford this year just like
many other schools have done when they were going to host regionals.
