I'm thinking about who would play PF if the wolves trade KG . . .

Would the Blazers make this trade:

LaMarcus Aldridge for Trenton Hassel and the #7 pick?

Nope. LA is not going anywhere (unless it is part of a package for KG =))

And Hassel is not much better and at least twice the price it would take to re-sign Udoka. They have
about the same defensive game... and Ime is a good spot up 3 point shooter. I think they also waive
and re-sign cheaper Freddy Jones to backup Roy. Freddy gave up the guarantee on next year to be
traded to portland and I assume that is the plan.

Zach may be on the trade block. Might work in a multi team trade if they send KG east.

Thank for the info. Won't the Blazers have too many bigs if they
draft Oden? Who are they keeping, who are they trading, and
who are they getting rid of?

And who can the wolves get for cheap?

Not really. Likely Oden and Zach start with Aldridge and Joel backing up both.
They also have Raef LeFoul but he likely parks at the end of the bench until he is on an ending
contract next summer unless someone gets injured or they trade Joel

>Who are they keeping,

The pick...we will assume Oden... Roy and Aldridge are pretty much untouchable baring superstars.

>who are they trading, and

Zach perhaps is most likely but not as cheap as I think many think will get him. Although some
rumors sound good I think he is still here another season...

Jack not by first choice but to make a big trade if needed.
Webster would be available.

Outlaw is a RFA and they might not match much past 3 mil.

Freddy Jones. Freddy gave up the
guarantee on next year to be traded to portland and I assume the plan is to waive him and re-sign
him cheaper. But this summer he would be a good addition to a trade because the other team could
just waive him to dump his 3 mil...then he likely re-signs with portland anyway.

Not sure where Sergio Rodriguez fits here. Spanish Chocolate... Flashy crowd pleaser with a great
handle and floor vision runs fast breaks well (one of Jack's weaknesses) ...At home he is Steve Nash
and on the road Bass Telfair...ran into a rookie wall I think. His style does not fit with Zach in
the post and a half court game.
He was second in the league in assists per 48 minutes to Nash with 13+ most of the year, ended up at
12 per 48. His assist to TO ratio is about 5 to 1 at home, about 2 to 1 on the road. He is smaller
than listed and his defense is pretty bad. Was the starting PG on Spain's world championship team
last summer.
If they keep Zach he might be on the trade block for style reasons when shaping the team.

Joel Pryzbilla likely can be had. He was signed on a MLE last year. But he was injured so much
likely they need to keep him until the trade deadline for anyone to want him.
He has a trade kicker.. would be 4 mil right now but the blazers could pay 3 mil of it by adding
cash to a trade.

> who are they getting rid of?

Magloire is a free agent and they will let him walk for tax relief.

Likely Dichau, he is on a ending contract. I think they might look for another PG to back up Jack,
right now Roy moves to PG.

>
> And who can the wolves get for cheap?

Travis Outlaw. He is really developing nicely and after 4 years in the league is like 22 years old.
McMillan wants him re-signed but I do not think they match over 4 mil because they are going to be
tight against the escrow limit. Most athletic player portland has had since Drexler. He is 6' 9" and
can tought the top of the backboard... He can fly on dunks and has a huge wingspan, blocks some
shots coming from no where. Still not consistent on offense but went from no jump shot to a pretty
good mid-range jumper..
He has asthma and not sure he could handle starters minutes all the time. Seems to be under control
now better than the first 2 years. He plays PF when Nate is in small ball mode and has gained
strength.
Lives quitely with a budget of 3,000 a month with his Mom controlling his money since he was a
rookie...but he rarely spends more than $800 and nothing fancy past a three cars. Likes to fish
wears jeans and t-shirt....

Ime Udoka likely earned a bi-annual exception from someone. Portland does not have one next year so
might offer him a mil or so of the MLE to keep him. He is one of those feel good stories, home town
guy, played in the minor leagues and Europe for years. Some camp invitee got hurt and since Ime was
in Portland they offered him a camp spot and he played his way not only onto the team but into the
start by opening night. He was pretty solid all year and a crowd favorite. Everyone wearing Gi'me
Ime T-shirts...

You left out the 'who are they stuck with' catagory =)

Miles they would love to get rid of but there will be no takers unless someone is stupid. Perhaps if
they actually play him but I think they will try to buy him out.

Raef LeFoul and his contract, but that is small payment for getting Roy.

Thanks for the info. The Blazers will be a fun team to watch as they
build around Oden, Aldridge, and Roy. Sounds like the wolves
won't be able to make any team-changing trades with the
Blazers, anyway.

It's too bad the wolves didn't have a chance to draft a player
like rookie-of-the-year Roy. I'm sure McHale would have really
jumped on that picks and built around him. Oh well . . .

Well they did draft Roy of course... =) I would not rue it as a bad trade at all. Roy may have
been more NBA ready but Foye may be just as good or better and on the Blazers with more opportunity
his rookie year may well have been ROY. Their stats per 48 are very similar.

The second half of the season per 48 minutes they were 23/ 6/ 6 and 22/ 5.6/ 6.5

Hardly matters which set of stats goes with which player...
