PHILADELPHIA--Senior Joey Rhoads scored her 24 points en route to becoming Penn's
17th player to reach 1,000 career points. Unfortunately, the Quakers lost their Ivy
League opener to Princeton, 78-72 at The Palestra Saturday night.

Penn fell to 4-8 overall and 0-1 in Ivy League play. Princeton improved to 7-8 and
1-0 in the League.

Rhoads became the 17th Quaker to reach 1,000 points in her career less than two
minutes into her 94th game at Penn. The senior started the game with 995 points.
She hit a three-pointer and was fouled moments later where she made both shots from
the line to sit at an even 1,000. Rhoads went on to 19 more in the game and ranks
as the 15th all-time scorer at Penn.

The Penn-Princeton rivalry was in full effect, but it was the Tigers that took the
lead early in the game. Leading the Ivy League in made threes, Princeton was an
impressive 10-of-19 from long range and shot 44.8-percent overall. Penn was just as
accurate shooting 44.6-percent, but was just 6-of-16 from beyond the arc.

Down seven at the half, the Quakers came back hard in the second snatching nine
steals and pulling down eight offensive boards. The Tigers edged the home team by
one in the rebounding category (35-34).

Senior Monica Naltner played an even game with 10 points in each half and led the
team with six rebounds. Fellow senior Lauren Pears scored 10 for the Quakers in her
first double-digit game since November.

For Princeton, Meagan Cowher scored 22 points while three other Tigers scored in
double-digits. Ali Prichard and Cowher led on the glass with seven each.

The Quakers clipped the lead to three with five minutes remaining, but that was as
close as they would get as the clock wound down.

Penn will be back at The Palestra, Jan. 12-13 to host Cornell and Columbia Friday
and Saturday nights. The tip is set for 7 p.m. both nights.
