Why would you want him to???? No upside there. OTOH, he could go
down with an ACL injury in pregame warmups and be done for the season
or longer. Let him rest in Portland. >> Stay informed about: Roy SHOULD make it. |

I don't WANT him to, but he deserves it. I want Iverson to make it so
he wears down more. >> Stay informed about: Roy SHOULD make it. |

He is going to be there anyway, this just decides which game he plays in.

If you care about the Blazers, and if you've been paying attention to
2 out of the last 3 home games, then you know that what each and every
one of the Blazers need right now is rest. Roy included.
Accolades will come to Roy in good time, especially if and when he
puts a banner in the rafters and a ring on his finger. And it won't
be the ignominy backing into an all star team slot. It'll be the real
deal. He needs rest more than this. >> Stay informed about: Roy SHOULD make it. |

So Nate, his teammates et all that wanted him selected do not care about the
blazers?

Respect helps now, even more confidence for Roy and the team, maybe a few
star calls, in the national media, a lot of ways.

He did not back into it. He deserves it. He wants it. Why rain on his
parade?
> He needs rest more than this.
I repeat...He was going to be there anyway for all of the activities because
of the rookie challenge game. Once selected it was not a choice.
Being an all-star only adds a likely 10 minutes or less of BBall early in
the game with no pressure to what he was doing that weekend anyway. Not much
difference even if he plays in the rookie game but I think by rule he will
be replaced for the rookie game.
If he only plays in the all-star game and not the rookie game he will play
a lot less over those 4 days than he would have if not selected to the
all-stars.

As a person that thought Roy should go but not ahead of Davis, I agree
with Laurel. The respect and attention helps now, it helps in FA
market, helps with the Refs, helps with TV money helps with the
City......The one day of a breezy rec league game isn't gonna hurt
Brandon Roy.

I'm sure they do, but they can't be counted on to be objective. So we
gotta help them out.

It means nothing compared to a few rings. Trust me.

I'm not. I'm looking out for him.

Nah. His physician orders him on bed rest, and that's all presto-
change-o, trust me. >> Stay informed about: Roy SHOULD make it. |

Sure... once he has them... for now he is an all-star and the respect earned
might aid that eventual goal.

You are, you sound pissy and selfish.

He is a big boy, he can look out for himself. And he plans to play both
games...

Nope I do not trust that at all.
So now you want him and the team to cheat and lie and break his contract?
If they are not held out of regular games before or after they are fined
and suspended for not playing in the all-star game. You want him to sit a
few games so he does not have to play a few minutes of the allstar game?
Others that had been there many times have claimed they could not play and
found out they could...Malone said he would just pay the fines and not show
up because he needed to rest, they told him either he had to go on the
injured list for 5 games or he would be supended 5 games. He showed up and
played...
