Chad Ford from espn insider:
Several sources claim that the Blazers all but have a deal in place to
move Shareef Abdur-Rahim. The question is where? As Insider first reported
last week, several league sources are claiming that the Blazers are talking
to the Nets about trading Abdur-Rahim for Kerry Kittles, Aaron Williams and
the No. 22 pick.

Not sure why NJ wants another undersized PF/slow SF....

Both Kittles and Williams are rumored to be left unprotected for
the expansion draft. Are teams allowed to make trades before then?

Maybe just insurance in case some team like Utah or Atlanta makes a
huge
offer to Kenyon Martin and the Nets decide they don't want to match
it?
I think they've already said they don't consider him a max contract
player.

In case K-Mart doesn't resign with them.

He is restricted so they can match any offer. So they can make him an offer
and let him go shopping. But whatever offer sheet he gets would be his
market value and I doubt he is going to get a max long term offer. Perhaps
from Utah, but NJ could still match it and keep him.

SAR is on an ending contract but makes 14.6 this next year.
Perhaps they figure they can use him at SF and then let him walk to dump
salary if he does not fit in there.

Yeah, that sounds right since the teams already made their lists.

I wonder if maybe NJ just wants to get rid of Kittles. So they trade for
SAR and make a deal with the Bobcats to take him so they can save their
money for Kenyon Martin. Then the Blazers make a deal to have the Bobcats
take someone else besides Kittles (like Stepania who just exercised his
player option for next season).
